I think people are on the fence with either leaving, or telling our bodyguard and the captain about where the enemy camp then have them fight the battle.

Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You get the feeling things are a lot more complicated than they seem. You can't abandon these people to their fate, but moving aggressively may not be wise either. You write a brief note detailing the situation to the local lord, including the location and composition of the enemy and the give the note to Elwer, who takes his horse and rides it out to the next town, a rider will fair far better at evading patrols than a starved peasant on foot. You also relate this same information to Barick and Sir Evanson, when questioned you reveal to them that you are gifted in clairvoyance magic, and that your power may prove very useful during the journey. Both take the news in stride.
Retrieving your mirror you scry Elwer riding briskly along the road, your foul mood makes it more difficult to maintain focus than it otherwise would be, but you manage. Before too long a small group of horsebacked archers spring from the underbrush and begin to overtake him, and you see the squire panic as he brings his horse to a full gallop, you share the boys panic as the men begin to shoot arrows at him. The shots seem wildly innacurate however, and one of the men even seems to throw his bow onto the ground in disgust. Three arrows leave their mark however, the first  embedding itself in the boys thigh, the next in the horses rump, and the last in the small of his back, leaving Elwer slumped over in his saddle as the horse continues to speed off. At the last shot you lose all concentration and your magic breaks. You are fairly sure you just watched someone die.

You relay the story to Sir Evanson and Barick, both of which listen with grim faces. You feel numb as both of them discuss what to do next, Sir Evanson decides it is too late in the day to look for the boy or mount an offensive, but that either way the party will have to march in the morning. Barick mostly just grunts in response, and before too long has passed he's mounted his horse and ridden away, no one tries to stop him.
Needing someone to talk to you enter the carriage and tell the story to Ritalia, who embraces you wordlessly as you both share teary silence. You find yourself irrationally annoyed when you hear peasants have arrived at your campsite to beg for food, some of the men give them part of their rations on the condition that they leave back towards town, but part of you almost wishes to begrudge the presumptuous peasants that much.
Barick does not take long to return to camp, and he causes quite a stir. Tied to his saddle is a battered and beaten man dressed in crude leather, who he lifts atop his shoulder and dumps at your feet. Barick has a bruised face himself, and seems to have been sprayed with bloodspatter, you find yourself reminded that this man is indeed very dangerous. The foreigner at your feet tries to scream through his gag, and Barick kicks him, speaking a few words in a tongue you do not understand as he does so.

Does he look like one of the archers? We should ask Barick to explain who it is.

"Found him spying on our camp, he's definitely one of the wildmen. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been spying on us since we got here."

Gonna need more input to move on. What are you going to do with the prisoner? Execute him? Interrogate him? And then what shall you do?

+1  Have Barick handle the knife/club/torture instrument.  This wilding is probably already scared of him.
