You spend several days making contact with various businessmen at Koringberg. It seems that the primary exports of the principality are the service of soldiers, arms, and armor. There is little industry in this or any of the surrounding principalities, and as a result the country is not among the wealthiest. The nation imports a lot of food and metal. Now that you think about it, this might explain why the country has a history so surrounded by war and conflict. The motivation may very often be a need for precious resources. You manage to make some business contacts and secure a few promises for overland trade by wagon, but by your calculations you won't be making much in the way of money from the business that you do secure. Still, it can't hurt foreign relations.

You can't help but feel bored by the people here. They all seem so wrung out and humorless, as if no one gets any sleep.

Soon enough a local baron comes to you and offers to train footmen for you. He explains to you that he's heard who you are, and that he trains the best Halberdiers in Koringberg, perhaps even throughout all of Adalbert. He explains that he needs the money for future projects he has planned, and that he offers five and one year contracts for Adalbert born men. He would need a few months to get you the men though, as his last batch of troops are not finished training. He could also train men sent from Analysse, though he would need at least a full year to train them, preferably longer. He explains that he would charge you for the training, rather than for their service, in that instance.
You thank him for coming to you, and tell him you will take it under consideration. His services wouldn't be cheap, but with your income you could definitely afford them. You have enough money amassed back home to sign even now if you really wanted to, for a modest number of troops.

You make sure the party is ready to leave soon, as you feel you have tarried enough here. Everyone but Ritalia seems eager to get under way, you arn't sure wether it is the thought of travel or that she's grown to like this place. You hope it is the latter.
At the last, Penrod has a force of his men leave the fortress, when you ask him why he tells you that it is a local matter, and not any of your concern. Rebuffed, you are not sure if you should press the issue. It was quite a sizable group to be any kind of patrol, at least two hundred if you can trust the word you receive from Penrod's own servants, perhaps more.

...I don't trust Penrod.

Try scrying.  If it can't be done or too dangerous, then leave it, and prepare to leave this militant country behind.  Keep practicing swordsmanship.

Perhaps before we go, we can ask the Baron for a small squad of Halberdiers to test out. Free of charge, of course. If we like their work, we will send for more. If not... free Halberdiers.

Penrod is probably responding to whatever attacked the escort he sent to us. Maybe, we should tell him about those burrowing things that attack the wildmen. Anyway, we should just leave we shouldn't be very be involving ourselves in the foreign affairs of another country.

My computer has broken down, and a combination  of financial and personal  issues  are going to prevent  me from updating  consistently for now. I could update occassionally, wait until i can update regularly< or discontinue this entirely, i leave that up to you fine folks.

I prefer to wait for regular updates or occasional updates. Good luck on solving that financial issue though.

Alright, so for the most part, i'm back and eager for action. Now, I would be pleased to start this up again, but i'm realistic and know any limited interest has probably faded, and that's totally okay.

I still want to briefly revisit the possibility of beginning this again, so i'll tell you what i'm going to do if interest is there, or isn't. If people want this to begin again i'll probably start a new thread and archive updates there. Then I will post a plot summary filled with all of the events of note that have occurred, and also additional setting information including history, geography, culture, political climate and climate climate. I may even draw up a map. If there is general ambivalence or apathy however, that's totally fine and won't hurt my feelings or anything.

I'm also working on a multiplaye horror game that i'd like to give a try here, featuring one player as the big bad, and it looks promising, so a positive would be that I could focus exclusively on that if I abandon this, though I could split my attention between the two easily enough.

So, should I open up my handy-dandy necronomicon, or hold a funeral and bury prince Raynor once and for all time?

Alright, so there is some interest. I'm going to look through my notes and think about it for a day or two. If I do start it up again i'm going to have to be a lot more meticulous with my record-keeping and behind the scenes rolls, and generally put more effort into it than I did before. We shall see guys!

Sweet! Can you please post a small summary of what happened so far? If it is not to much trouble.

I greatly enjoyed reading up until now, consider this my PTW and encouragement post.

We should tell Penrod that our sister is very dear to us and that when he would be a good husband to her he'll always find a friend in us.
at the same time try to instill a sense of duty and pride into our sister. She'll be in a place to bring stability between the two kingdoms.
if she sees opportunities to improve the prosperity of her future populous we'll be glad to help her.

(then again, such final words could also be reserved and maybe have more impact for the actual wedding)

edit ( also encouraging anyone remotely interested to go on a reading spree its a pretty fun read :D and 24 pages isn't that much if you disregard the discussion and suggestion posts)

Alright, time to make It official! Demand is enough for me to justify the time needed to begin this again, and also to put more effort into it. I'm going to link to a new thread within a day or two.
Thanks for the support and patience.
