We aren't really any good at sword fighting yet. Our presence would just distract Balrick, because he would still have to guard us.
Finally, Why do we need a group of awed villagers following us around?

Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Yes Barick has stepped out of line, but so have you in addressing your prince in such a disrespectful way, i would remind you that i may one day be your king." You see shame flood into the Knight's face, and he quickly bows his head.
"My deepest apologies my prince, it shall not happen again." Barick seems amused, but you shoot him a glare, and he chokes down an incoming laugh. "Now, what are we to do about the Hamlet?"
Grim faced you turn to face the decrepit settlement. "What Noblemen are supposed to do, we do our best to protect the realm."

...

You know that these lands are ruled by a very poor country knight with few accomplishments to his name, he keeps to himself and has never interested himself muchly in military matters, he lives in the next town over, about a days ride along the dirt road. The peasants tell you that he is generally very lax with tax collection, but that he occasionally sends a man over to see how things are. They have been hoping he will soon come to their rescue, but doubt he has much of an inkling about what is going on.
The hamlet and surrounding area used to number about a hundred, but now is closer to fifty, mostly women and children. While estimates of the raiders number between twenty and fifty, with perhaps five being horsed and skilled at archery, the rest being more or less a rabble of men on foot. If they truly are eastern wildmen they will likely be poorly disciplined and equipped, scavenging whatever isn't nailed down to arm themselves with.

You need more information, but scouting would likely prove dangerous and time consuming. You pull a hand-mirror from your cart and use it as a scrying focus. You pull your vision out to see as wide an area as you can, and alternate between that and looking closer at areas of interest, you find you have a pretty good idea of what the terrain is like now. It takes you some time and effort, but you just barely manage to make out their camp in a nearby forest. They are well hidden, and your heart drops as you see the number of tents and people, they easily number fifty. Looking closer though, you notice some of those people are women and children, your forces easily outnumber their able-bodied men, and you are sure they can be defeated.

You have camp made outside of town, and everyone is at high readiness for whatever is to come, you strip yourself of valuables and your horse of it's flashy quilted barding, leaving only the functional studded leather beneath. You explain the situation to Ritalia and do your best to ease her spirits, but you are faced with a dilemna. You have knowledge of the location and troop composition of the enemy, and a healthy grasp on terrain, but how will you give  this information to Sir Evanson and Barick? If at all? Will you help plan, or leave it to sir Evanson? Will you join in the fighting, or stay behind?

First of all, whatever we do, don't actually lead the raid.
1. we're a teenaged boy
2. we're a high priority target (both for kidnapping by these brigands, and in general to the various Analyssean factions)
3. the setting might look like the middle ages, but the magitek is advanced enough to have full blown C3I- our place is on the other end of the "cystall ball", scrying and seeing the big picture, not leading cavalry charges.

agreed, we shall relay the terrain and info to the knight and allow him to plan and lead the charge, we'll stay behind with our squire and guard, and protect our sister and her milk maiden, and whoever else with us isn't able to be in a full blown fight.

Perhaps a makeshift signaling system so we can relay information when we scry it.

I think we can rely on Barick and Captain Verack on strategy, and we do Fire mage whichcan tip the scale to our advantage. I personally think we should just relay the intel and put emphasis on that there are women and children at the camp.

It seems we're committed to attacking, but something about this doesn't feel right. We are going on nothing other than this man's word. We have no idea about the existing dynamics in the region. We may be stepping on some lord's toes.

We waltz in, hear literally one sentence of explanation from one man, decide we are judge, jury, and executioner, and set ourselves to killing a bunch of men (not just raiders or bandits, as they have women and children present). I just don't know. I think we'd be better served by sending a messenger to the nearest Lord and hoofing it out of here. But that is just my opinion.

Good point, we need more info if Barick objects to this we can easily say we are going on is the information of one man, if we are going to take further action we need more information on the current climate. If he continues his objection we will then say How many times have your enemies in military campaigns try to deceive you?

I might have glossed it over, but the story has been corroborated by the other peasants, not sure how much that matters.

Maybe we should at least go tell Barick and Captain Verack about the enemy camp.

I'm a little unsure what the consensus is on. Is the prince gathering more information, moving to fight, or leaving entirely? I would move for compromise but... not really much of a possibility under the circumstances. I'll wait a little longer for discussion, and gauge what to do from there.

When in doubt, charge. Father wants a warrior, so here it is.
