With a different [CONSUMESMAT:x:y:z:etc...] tag that allows for more flexibility, such as giant mosquitos that don't have preference towards sentient creatures, or bogeymen that eat the skin off of dwarves. Or ancient beasts that consume gems.

The issue is that blood is currently represented in-game with a counter while the other BPs... aren't.

Bone Carn?

I think that definately has a place in the game. Many carnivours do not eat bones (or more specifically the marrow in the bones).

Though splitting it up into Marrow eater and Bone eater may be a good idea.

How about something more like [EAT_SPECIAL:INORGANIC:IRON] or whatever. Heck, it could allow for some silly nethack "eat magical items and permanently gain their magic" things.

I'm sure this is planned eventually - the current eating tags are incomplete and hard-coded because of simply being something Toady hasn't felt the need to put much time into, yet.

We're supposed to have not just grazers, but browsers and the like, as well, plus feeding troughs and all sorts of other things.  Plus we have carnivores and various scavengers that don't eat at all yet.

I'm sure that a more robust token system will be something Toady does when the diets of creatures in general is more robust.

I'm sure a robust token system is something that Toady plans for everything ever anyway, hehe.

this, combined with ware whatever could give you something very simmilar to the replicators or borg or whatever, a swarm species replicating thought your fort, incredibly dangerous, but with some well though out strategic weakness like a lack of inteligence resulting in complete predictability

I'm guessing you don't mean the consumption of the Deity representing that, or the followers of said deity. Are you?
How would something like that work, do you think?

Would the [EAT_SPECIAL:X] system work for anything?

I seriously hope this is trolling, but in case it isn't...

No.

Think about what we're discussing for a second...

You can't have creatures eating things that don't even exist in the game right now, as that's completely meaningless. 

If you're going to put something into a tag or a token, it has to be something that plays by the same mechanics as the other items in that tag or token, which means it has to be a physical object that is eliminated by the eating process, and drops hunger values upon consumption. 

Even if you had something that was measurable, like Happiness, you can't "eat" that in the same way you can "eat" a plump helmet in this game, so it can't be part of the tokens.

While creatures that feed off of emotions have a strong place in fantasy lore and literature, I'm not sure how one would properly implement them in a game like DF, aside from giving them NO_EAT and emotion-eating flavor. Certainly not at this point in the game.

Perhaps one could have them drain the happiness of dwarfs they are in contact with, and have some sort of hunger counter so they starve without doing so.
