done a little more testing.

with a bigger chamber, I reached 10k degrees plasma withing a couple of minutes at most. it would have been much more, had I remembered to reinforce the floors.

a few notes:
1) windows aren't airtight at those pressures. I cooked myself even with a firesuit on.
2) vents need an air control. trivial if building on test range
3) I used a welder as igniter, but an electrified airlock linked to a signaler would probably work fine, and be a bit more classy

such a design can comfortable fit inside the test range, although you would have to remove a couple reinforced walls to allow venting.
with proper planning, one can get into bomb making after 30-40 minutes maybe, assuming heads give you proper authorizations.

You can apparently install a signaler onto an igniter.  I didn't try to do that yet, personally.

Primary Tool Storage, most easily.  I think the vending machines and also maybe R&D have them...  I know for sure PTS does.

oh, THAT igniter. that may be a nice idea. and more elegant than electrified airlock.

a round we should go scientist together and build it on the test range. not hard if we have the dispenser, a couple of space suits and metal.

Chemistry or primary tool storage.
I'm not sure how good igniters work in terms of sparking, but they should work.
Also, you cooked yourself EVEN WITH A FIRESUIT? Wow. I've stood next to windows of a room filled with broken oxygen and plasma canisters and not had that happpen. Did you have your internals on?
Well, dead-you appears to have a space helmet on him. Firesuits don't work alone. You need to put on the fire helmet. Just inject yourself with a coldresistance DNA injector and put on some internals.
I can confirm that windows transmit heat, tough.

Firesuits protect from everything but standing in a fire. Also, I'm impressed that you managed to get those vents to work.

Autolathes can make them I think. I know R&D can make their own autolathes given materials.

I didn't. I spawned canisters inside, opened them, then screwed the window back in place before it would ignite.
that is why we need an air alarm. isn't the air alarm the thing that controls vents?
