are you sure he doesn't mean the community of european muslims

That also works. I just reread his post and realised I misread it as Zangi saying there was no European Muslim community, only a Muslim community in Europe.

I'm fairly sure the intent was a fear of THOSE people however it was stated.

Stop that!

It seems I've underestimated the terrorists. Apparently they hijacked another car and manage to leave Paris. The police is currently focusing it's effort on "The East of the Country". Real precise.

They did however raid a couple flats that might have been used by those guys for a few days. Of course, if the secret services were watching them, why didn't they stop them earlier?

I did remember reading, on the Guardian I think, that in Hollande's speech he boasted the secret service had busted more than one similar plot in the weeks preceding this attack. You can never be too sure with that kind of thing, but maybe they really were onto something?

They didn't know the extent of their plans or resources? They caught on too late? They knew the extent of their plans and resources but had certain details wrong, leading them to believe the attack would be later, or somewhere else? They need to justify something? And that's just off the top of my head. They're bound to slip up eventually.

Or something even more horrible will happen. I just don't know anymore. I don't want to believe all the horrible tales about Europe's Muslim community, but as time passes and events continue to pass in line with that narrative's predictions...

You mean to the Muslim community in Europe?

No, he means Europe's Muslim community.

are you sure he doesn't mean the community of european muslims
To clarify: I meant, in the context of MSH's post, horrible tales of things that will be done to the Muslim Community(ies).
My fault here.

Also, the The Guardian feed just said the 3 guys are identified.  Guess they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.

Apparently they were just caught. No proper sources yet(why do they publish a news and edit it for hours after?!?).

Hmm, everything I read, including stuff that's just been updated, says they've been identified and that various places, including what is likely their homes, have been searched, but nothing about them being caught.

The Guardian seems to be the only source so far, from the French police to them only, at their front page now: http://www.theguardian.com/uk

Die Zeit had it too, citing Libération and the Guardian as sources, there is nothing on the Libération page though, just this on the Guardian's site.

Well, Libération says they have been located, but nothing about an arrest.

Well, what I see on their website is
Quote
A spokesman for the French police tells the Guardian’s Kim Willsher in Paris that authorities have arrested three suspects in the Charlie Hebdo attack.

However Kim points out that the interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, addressed the media not long ago and did not mention arrests.

More details to come.

So not confirmed yet. However, they apparently have been identified. They were known jihadist, one of them was convicted for 3 years for sending people to Iraq. I wouldn't like to be in the intelligence chief's shoes right now.

Some other report claim the police located them in Reims, and that the RAID (French SWAT) is getting ready for, well, a raid.

Also, apparently one of them left his idea in the car. Which is... weird.

The reports also mention 3 people, including a driver, which is weird since you only see 2 gunmen on the videos, one of them taking the wheel.

Finally, I must say I'm amazed at the courage/stupidity of the people who filmed the attack.

The reports say it was two brothers, 32 and 34 years old and a homeless (?) 18 year old.

Le Figaro has something about a raid in Reims too, so that seems to be happening.

Well, things do fall out. They apparently changed in the car at some point (you can see one of them picking up a sneaker as they leave).

One of the things we need to do in a situation like this is probably avoid showing fear- after all, terrorism is scaring a population into doing what you want. It stops working when people stop getting worried by it.

But the fact they (may have) been caught is good. Or at least identified. IF they haven't been found, the identifying will be rather major in finding them.

Absolutely. Je Suis Charlie!
