well Ukrainian Ranger, congrats on your new lustration law. afaik it's an inpportant milestone for ukraine. Can you give some specifics on how exactly you expect it will work? Who are the exact people or groups of people to be barred from office, and which offices are subject to restrictions?

Looks like it was amended to a softer version and I haven't seen the text. Not that even original version was close to my wishes..... So I have no illusions about the long road of real lustration ahead. I'd prefer everyone being MP from 1991 to 2014 denied a right to be elected again

To be honest that law and ratification of European association (with more than 2\3 votes) look like a sweetener for what I see as a capitulation law.
Because that "special status" looks like Ukrainian analogue of Chechnya, with them being de-jure a part of Ukraine but de-facto a criminal hostile enclave of organized crime that we will pay tribute to.

Of cause in Post Soviet countries laws mean little, implementation of that laws is what matters

It's in effect a subsidy that does not appear of EU books. Hell, I'd support giving them such a deal until 2025 or so to help their industry adapt before joining the European free-trade zone.

And that's the very stupid part: they get a better trade deal with EU that EU itself.
I can't imagine many EU businessmen to be happy with that. It also looks like the beginning of another Greece all over again.
