People saying that attack on the convoy will be an excellent casus belli for Putin tend to forget one important thing: Putin doesn't need it. Because Russia is know for making up it's own casus belli whenever needed. Putin will just order 2000 people shot, drop the bodies near front lines, which are poorly defined, and blame the Ukrainians for genocide saying that Russian soldiers insurgents found the bodies. Et voila, instant casus belli.

This is really simple, especially since he already did pretty much that with the residential building bombing prior the Chechen wars...

Intense Ukrainian shelling of Donetsk, 13.08.2014, 23:00
Any pictures of the damage. I mean, it certainly looks spectacular, but I don't have much experience in how bangs translate to actual damage.

Russian humanitarian convoy, (and as many people in twitter claim:escorted by humanitarian ground attack helicopters), is expected to cross separatists controlled border soon (up to two hours)

Also, guys, have self-respect and not react on Guardian's news that he take from Russian propaganda places. That kind of yuotube channel can post just anything

Okay so not working with red cross. Breaking agreement with Ukrainian government. Heading into a rebel controlled area instead of the agreed Ukrainian held area.

I would personally think that this is the point where it's morally okay to blow it up. Even if it has aid supplies in it the fact that they are pretending to work with the red cross when they are not actually doing so should probably be some sorta crime.

If BBC's live coverage on its website is to be believed, there are a lot of foreign journalists moving with the convoy. If the convoy is actually part of a secret plot to take over Donbass, it'll be one of the most televised secret military operations in recent history.

Sorry, BP, but I've found that, oftentimes, you argue that something not in your favour is anti-zionist/anti-semitic.

I'm afraid you can't just say that, please, point out the parts that are. If something's anti-British, I don't start accusing the guys of racism.

BP has a long history of trying (and failing) to equate antisemitism with antisionism to cover up the conduct of Israel. Basically any opposition to policies of Israel is racist and means you hate Jews.

DNR is enthusiastically unload all its heavy munitions in the center of Donetsk. Russians are putting a good use for stuff that they can't evacuate.  Do economical damage to Ukraine and blame Ukrainian army for bombing civilian targets. Win-win

If you attacked the convoy and it didn't have weapons in it and was just delivering aid you'd be committing a war crime and Putin would have his excuse to roll into all of Ukraine. Pretending to be "talking" with the red cross with no intention to is not a crime, it's politicians spinning the news. It's reason enough to warrant the convoy's inspection, but not yet its destruction.

Quote from: Geneva Convention
Article 4. Persons protected by the Convention are those who, at a given moment and in any manner whatsoever, find themselves, in case of a conflict or occupation, in the hands of a Party to the conflict or Occupying Power of which they are not nationals.

Nationals of a State which is not bound by the Convention are not protected by it. Nationals of a neutral State who find themselves in the territory of a belligerent State, and nationals of a co-belligerent State, shall not be regarded as protected persons while the State of which they are nationals has normal diplomatic representation in the State in whose hands they are.

Pretending to be "talking" with the red cross with no intention to is not a crime, it's politicians spinning the news. It's reason enough to warrant the convoy's inspection, but not yet its destruction.
Yes it is a crime, a war crime as it happens.
Misuse of these emblems is prohibited by international law. Misuse may diminish their protective value and undermine the effectiveness of humanitarian workers. Use of one of the emblems in order to protect combatants and military equipment with the intent of misleading an adversary, perfidy, is considered a war crime.

PERFIDY
The use of the distinctive emblem during an armed conflict in order to protect combatants and military equipment and with
intent to mislead the adversary
. Perfidious use of the emblem, when causing death or serious personal injury, is considered a war crime.
