So the Scottish alternative rock band Biffy Clyro were playing at "T in the Park" today, basically one of our biggest music festivals. It's very popular with young people and it's pretty much a rite of passage now to go to the festival at age 17. They were one of the main headlining bands for the festival and, as you would imagine, a lot of people were there to hear them today. The festival itself attracts up to 85,000 each day.

Then there was this fan of the band interviewed by the BBC for about 5 seconds; they asked her "why do you love Biffy Clyro so much".

This was her response

Live TV in Scotland doesn't always go so well for the BBC when the general public are involved like that. I'm sure they wished, wished they could have cut her out.

Can you tell me what her response was? I'm getting NO sound from that video.

Same.

Also, they do look seventeen. Not quite voting age. :P

Well, that's just not fair. And quite obviously vote-grasping.

What's not fair about extending suffrage to 16 & 17-year-olds? It's their country too.

Democracy is not vote-grasping. You don't magically become able to vote effectively at 18.

There are stupid young people, but as a forum chalk full of leftists I'm sure you can imagine how the venerable aged gentlemen of the world should not be taken as the model for suffrage.

Who knows what they put in there before they patch you up.
