: "The area I grew up in was rather poor. We had to hunt for food, and we didn't have much in the way of metal weapons like blades or lances. I ended up making the right choice, though, because hunting in the forest was a cinch with a bow."

"Oh. I see. No, we're pretty much born and raised craftsmen. My oldest brother all but took over me dad's carpenter shop a couple years a go, as for me, I took an apprenticeship at a local smith. I don't know anyone in my family who has any fighting experience beyond militia duty."
