Why not just build regular altars through the mine and immerse them in bacterial cultures for a constant green glow as the untold millions of lives are tributed to death?
that's... that's... GENIUS!
Assuming it works, of course.
Let's hope it does!

Anyways, Orebaron is going to continue to be useful. There's a lot of minerals under this mountain and a lot of mountains around this mountain. An item sounds nice, but we can make one separately whereas we can't get Orebaron separately. And look at the proposed workaround--"Dig random tunnels." Not only does this waste time and labor, it risks caveins. You don't cause massive potential seismic issues where you sleep.

Well, we still have to decide what to do with the hunters. I say that, as the target is asleep and there is already noise, they can just go into range and throw their spears. I'm sure that if it fails some deerples will turn around when they see the ridgeback and run in the direction of the hunters.

Spears can also be stabbed with.

It is probably easier to throw a spear at a sleeping target than to catch a fleeing target.
 Although, it might be good to build an all-metal short-spear to use for stabbing. It might save a hunter if one of those large carnivores get uppity...

So? It's easier to stab a sleeping target than throw at one. (I can validate this with axes and assorted handheld objects.)

Indeed.

As far as we go, we have just only one miner and only one pick, so, in the short term, it's what we have. The other idea I proposed was to make fat-based candles, but nobody paid atention to it.

About mass producing, well, that's the difficult part.

Anyway, the miner can start another tunnel and that would be enough for now.
I did not ignore it. I just did not see it...

I think only the orebaron has a clear defined bonus.

Forgebaron - Smelting time decrease.
    Potential: Materials later in the game takes a stupid long time to smelt (i.e. a few days).

Artisan - Imbue item
    Potential: Enchantment unobtained via regular blessing. Probably not gamebreaker power, but powerful enough to warrant taking this perk.

Baronsmith - 20 Yollars
    Potential: What's the benefit of being a smith? Do smithing complicated equipment take time to learn? Does it take practice to forge a sword that won't break on contact? Depending on the meaning of being a Smith this could potentially be the strongest bonus.

Orebaron - Detection
    Potential: The most well explained. We get to find minerals and caves of hungry hungry monsters easier.

Current Bonuses:
Forgebaron - Slight.
Artisan - Unknown.
Baronsmith - Slight.
Orebaron - Zilch (Miner won't mine due to darkness).

Immediate Future Bonuses:
Forgebaron - Slight.
Artisan - Unknown.
Baronsmith - Unknown (depending on what 20 yollars can buy).
Orebaron - Significant (Miner starts mining)

Far Future Bonuses (May not take effect due to game ending)
Forgebaron - Large (Faster steel? yes please) (Operating on assuming of taking less time to unearth minerals/buy raw ones than it takes to refine them)
Artisan - Zilch to Medium (depending on what the enchant is)
Baronsmith - Little to Large (Depending on what value Smith gives)
Orebaron - Medium to Little (Depending on Forge backlog)

~~~
Operating under the assumption that we're not running a village of Dwarves born with the knowledge of fine crafting, I vote Baronsmith. Because we can always buy raw minerals/processed minerals from local villages and craft them into trinkets of MASTERPIECE and sell them at a profit.
Unless Baronsmith is stated to give us something else, I'm still for Orebaron. We are already a lordsmith, you know, so I don't think that we will get more benefits than the money. Lincoln already said that it wasn't a long-time perk.
On the other hand, 15 Yollars can buy a tamed browt, I think.
About the hunters:
Let's set the plan to:
Plan A: sneak and tab the sleeping one.
Plan B: throw spears if it tries to run.
Do you like this?
It isn't? Hm...
I'll go with Forgebaron in that case. Again, purchase raw materials, sell finished goods. Faster time to get equips, etc etc etc.
Hunters-
Best to just throw: with the hunter's current approach they have to cross water. Sneaking in across water (even if it's shallow) is a really bad idea.
Plus they can see them.
New Plan A: Charge in like morons and throw at closest target (for 2). 3rd Guy stabkills the one that gets hit.
The hunters only have two spears, they have no way to stab if they throw both.
Well, how about this:
Plan A: rush and throw one spear
Plan B: stab
Oh, sorry. was unclear.
I thought there was 3 spears for 3 people.
I second that plan. :D
My question is, why throw and not stab?
Because stabbing distance is difficult to acquire, where as a decent spear-wound should slow it down.
There are other, non sleeping ones nearby, that might flee and wake it up.
