Bio:
Short: Born of Belmonte Family with Leopoldo, given to a wandering eccentric scholar/story teller/part-time merchant/collector Alberto Scordato. Gave Fezz both his name and his first book, a book on fire magic, while Fezz was a kid, thinking he didn't possess any talent in such things, such as himself. Grew up wandering with foster father learning the tricks of the trade of being a scholar. Discovered talent for magic, Alberto kept it a secret and taught him what he knew, although that was nothing more than theories from old books as he himself didn't have a spark of magic in him, so it was more being self taught with help from books and theory. When he turned twenty so, he was informed he had a twin brother, and that he was adopted, took it well.
Long: Fezz was a child born to a family, although he wasn't the only child. Indeed, he is actually a twin to another, Leopoldo. When they were born, their family fretted as to how they would put food on the table, but a strange man solved their troubles. This eccentric man was Alberto Scordato. He was known as a freelance scholar, often looking at the various ruins for myths and legends, history and artifacts of times long past to share what he learned with other scholars, and also to score a few free drinks at the pub from a rousing story or two that are sometimes embellished every now and again. He was largely left to his own devices, being a strange man who collected books, knick-nacks, and strange stones found in the various ruins he ventured in. Didn't have a spark of magic in him, couldn't activate anything magical even if he wanted to, but that suited him well enough, he was more content with reading and learning about old ways than actually doing any of it, although such research was left to himself in secret.
Indeed, to most he was a wandering story teller, scholar, collector, sometimes he was a merchant at times if the need suited him. But there was one thing he didn't have: a heir. No one to pass on his knowledge, his books, his collections, his stories. Until he heard about the Belmonte family's problems. He's known them, although only in passing, someone to tell stories to but nothing more. However, Alberto saw an opportunity when he saw one. So he made them an offer, if they were to give him a child, a heir, an apprentice, he would raise the boy well and make him something for them to be proud of. The family deliberated on the issue, not wanting to see a child go but at the same time not knowing how ends will meet. But they knew of Alberto, knew that he took well enough care of himself and was a decent enough person. After much thought, they decided, and Fezz was given being the 'younger' of the two. Although that wasn't his name at the time.
Alberto moved on with the child in tow, although deemed he needed a name for his new family. Looking through his old items, he came across a peculiar book, and old, partially water damaged book of anima magic. Written inside the hard cover in old ink was the words "Property of Fezz--" With the rest of the name too smudged to read. It was a decent enough name, and so the lad came to be known as Fezz, and while children might receive a stuffed toy of an animal, he received a book.
While Fezz grew, Alberto taught him what he knew, took him to ruins, told him stories of times long past, and of histories both past and present. As Fezz grew, so did his knowledge, and as Fezz grew, the more Alberto considered him a son than a heir. Fezz was always the appreciative student, wanting to learn all that he can, and in his mind growing up he had a good childhood. Except for that one incident he was lost, alone in a dark ruin for a full day before Alberto finally found him. Although how he found him was the important part, for Fezz was against the corner of a wall, entranced by a small flame that did reside in his hands, nothing more than a match sized fire but it was enough to fight off the darkness.
The eccentric scholar knew what this meant. He didn't think anything by giving the small child that book long ago, thinking it nothing more than perhaps an interesting read or a fascinating object for the small child, but as the child was taught to read and write, he read and read. He tried before to attempt the things in the book, but always nothing happened to where he almost started to believe it was nothing but a fairy tale, until that day in the dark where he wanted nothing more than a little light in the dark. The scholar, knowing that such things are forbidden, hid the child's talent and taught him in secret what he knew. Although that wasn't much, his only knowledge on the subject old musty books from libraries he's managed to recover from ruins, theories from ancient books.
So to say that Fezz was formally taught, isn't quite right. It was more he taught himself how to actually do it, with the help of the said books and the lectures from the scholar Scordato, his foster father. Later, when he was consider of the right age to know such, Alberto told Fezz the truth on how he came to be with him. How he was adopted from the Belmonte family, how he wasn't really his father, and how he actually had a twin brother somewhere. Fezz took this well, all things considered, considering that growing up with Scordato as his father was the best way things could of progressed in his mind, considering him more of a father than anything else.
Well, that bio turned out longer than I thought it would. I wrote a short section though that condenses it well enough, although a few details escaped, nothing too important. This is what I get for not writing it as things went along. :p
