There's lots of African countries I'd consider moving to. If I had an army, that is.

That would fall under "moving into", I guess.

Actually, it shoudn't be too hard to carve out your private commune - hire a couple of decently-trained mercenaries, and stay away from sources of income for local warlords.

Why do people insist on pretending that Africa hasn't changed since the 1950s?  It's a populous continent with a huge urban middle class.  Yes they're poorer then us.  No, they aren't cavemen on the Serengeti.

I think it's mainly the genocides, rapes, 20% of the population having aids, killing and eating albinos, and the general lack of short shorts.

Aren't most of the world's wars still being waged there? Not at all unreasonable to talk about warlords in sub-Saharan Africa. There are lots of destabilized places there.

North Africa is doing a lot better iirc.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It can be kind of frustrating to me the way everyone groups all of Africa together. It's a very big and diverse place, even if it might seem to be all the same to an outside perspective.

I mean I know that people do it with all the rest of the world too, but I feel they go extra overboard with Africa.

In a sick way it's sort of funny. All of Africa is lumped together by outsiders when discussing certain problems which arose in no small part because of the way outsiders divided Africa up.

And in case my point earlier wasn't obvious, I'll spell it out here because it's relevant: People don't hear anything about Africa except all the shit, so they assume it's ALL shit. Always being told to donate now to save starving children and such-like.

At this point I just assume I don't know anything about Africa, because I don't.  Not really.

If that guy was German, he/she'd probably claim RT as an indisputable source of the one true gospel of truth... That's my impression, at least. Anything that starts with "ALL the media are lying to you" is not even fit to be used as toilet paper, because it's so transparent.

Blames people, says goverment is innocent. Goverment is elected from and by people, thus goverment can't be innocent.

But, if the statistics are right, Venezuela is one of the countries with the highest murder rate of Latin America, mainly because there is impunity there. I am not surprised for the deaths in the protests.
The important fact is that there are protests, not that people die there (I'm not by any means underrating human life, just that in that context it shouldn't be the most important fact)

The number of silly statements I've seen regarding Venezuela is astounding.

"The protestors are counterrevolutionary fascist pigdogs aiming at instituting a dictatorship and also they're 'rich' and should be shot"

"They don't have toilet paper because the people ate too much"

"Maduro and Chavez aren't really socialists after all"

"The CIA created shortages somehow and is to blame. Damn Americans!"

When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.
