Interest check: 3.5 dungeon crawl?
« on: January 28, 2013, 03:47:30 am »

Well, given the rather lack of good 3.5 games online I can find, I'm forced to ask for your help. I'm looking for some people for a large hack-and-slash dungeon crawl(minimal RP, though I'd prefer at least a little) at midlevel(~8-10 would be nice). I'll note here that while I'll DM if I have to, I'd rather not since games I DM tend to die rather quickly. Also, I'd prefer maptools, though doing it PBP is fine as well.

Also, if we go maptools can we do it on a date OTHER than sunday? That seems to be when all the games here happen, and I'm already in willfor's game :(

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Oh man, if you do it play-by-post then I am SO down for this. I can't do Maptool games consistently.

Would we just be using the core PHB for character creation?

yeah, if we do this we do it 4d6 drop lowest, or if you're unhappy with your rolls 36 point buy. And it also sounds like I'm DMing, so if I lose interest you guys have permission to beat me with a sack of badgers :P

I'm in on this. Always wanted to join a pen and paper rpg group.

Okay, I've never played 3.5 before but generating a character is fairly easy if you know the basics. Are we allowed to start with items, and if so what amount of money can be allocated to them? Or should we buy items early on? Just wanted to know because I'm making a Level 8 Fighter with Weapon Focus (Longsword).

I'd like to take a poll for this; I have 2 different characters previously thought up: a mage and a paladin. Suggestions?

Paladin sounds fun as long as we have at least one squishy smart type in the group somewhere :P

EDIT: Online sources say starting gold for an 8th level character is 27k. I'm SO RICH.

If it's PBP, I'd be willing to either DM or play.
If it's not, let me know when the schedule is planned to be and I'll consider it.

Have you DMed 3.5 before? You seem like you would make a good DM for a dungeon crawl if the OP drops.

I might be up for this, depending on the timeslot. I need something to distract me from my boiling rage. Also, irc chat reraised my interest in playing DnD so there's that.

I sure have. Generally not for large groups, but the two people I typically game with are an idiot who destroys the game with his ineptitude and a veteran who destroys my plots with his mind so it can't be too hard to DM for a bunch of average Bay12ers.

I'm interested, and have a mage, a rogue, a foghter, or a wizard I can adapt. The fighter's not a tank, though.

3 questions about this:

1. Is it cool if I join while being a noob with 3.5? I have the rule-books to reference I just haven't played the game yet and would like to try my hand at it.

2. Is this map-tools or Playing-by-post [on this forum]? If map-tools I can't play at all.

3. If the either of the above are no is it cool if I just watch?
