Illborn Riltia hated us. If we hadn't spread our legs, let down our hair, gone Oversoul, and beam blasted her to normal, she definitely would've eaten us.

Don't...
Please don't say it like that.
Well, I can't recall, don't illbornes only hunt because they need soul juice or something like that to become... Human-ish?

Yeah, pretty much. That's why illborn don't hunt other illborn.

Actually, why was Illtia so massive and OP? When Slog became illborn he didn't get a massive power boost, presumably. Also, why doesn't he or Goombess try to eat us? Aren't they supposed to be attracted to our delicious humanness? I digress. I think Illtia's power boost may have something to do with why Oric wants her dead.

Perhaps it may be the equivalent of an oversoul for illborne? I mean, the whole reason illborne want to kill Ciro is because she/he has an abundance of soul energy, perhaps not having a soul yet experiencing massive emotional trauma can cause it to mutate the body? The soul has to kinda leech off an excess of soul energy, right? That's what oversoul is?

Didn't Riltia go Willborn, not Illborn?
I think the difference is that Illborn is when your Soul Star is taken away and/or disassembled upon entering the Warrens, and Willborn is when your Soul Charge reaches 0.

Hmmm.
If that's the case, why do characters become monstrosities when their soul charge depletes? Actually, question, what is soul charge, as a whole? Is it emotions? Or is it memories? Or perhaps it's even traits?

It's food for a near dead race. Also it serves a variety of other purposes.

Say what you like about this version of Crab-bess, but in terms of defending Bowser's kingdom from invading Italian plumbers, that thing is the ultimate soldier.

Too bad we're not in the Mushroom Kingdom. Maybe we should suggest an awesome-element upgrade to Goombess - she might consider herself to have more of a chance to impress Oric that way.

We need to use the Dark Cathedral in some way or other. Don't forget that, as our characters advance, the alternative to upgrading our Illborn is a sticky end for them when their Max HP ceases to be sufficient.

Of course, aside from merely upgrading, there remains the "Essence and Binding" quest we have yet to complete...

Here are a wide variety of interesting Spirit Classes I thought of to break the game.

Oric Slayer
Main Character
Time Traveler
Knowledge Master
Italian Plumber
Teleporting Overlord
Master Cheater
Truthful Creater
Interception Mage
Radio Wave
Final Boss

I think about half of those would just kill us.

Not sure if a painful death counts as breaking the game.

The obvious solution is to kill Riltia, right? Right?
Eventually combine all Illborn we receive, then combine Polydectes, into a literal Soulless Abomination.

Hm. I wonder if Polydectes is actually an Illborn. He refused to let us scan him, so we don't actually know. I wonder if that's the motivation for his Illborn research.
