Two babies --> BUT NO TWINS.
« on: January 13, 2013, 03:48:12 pm »

Hi there.

I am still in the massively boundaried section of "beginner" at DF, but something just happened that I think may be a huge coincidence.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think I may have just witnessed two mothers giving birth to two seperate babies on the SAME TILE.

Is this a phenomenally unlikely event or am I being stupid?

Am I allowed to be excited!?

Doctor: Okay, who's baby is this?
Mother1:Mine, i think.
Mother2:No, yours was the one with the birthmark on it's hand.
Mother1:That was yours!

The Dwarfy response is to finish what King Solomon started.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Well as tanners and pump operators aren't exactly renowned for their intelligence, the fact that one of them was carrying a lump of rock might complicate matters further...

The Dwarfy response is to finish what King Solomon started.
King Solomon was crippled by his lack of ☼Serrated Adamantine Disc☼s and Giant Cave Spider webbing on weapon traps armed with the same to distribute babies among ALL prospective mothers.

In all seriousness, this is a really unlikely occurrence... but ultimately just a freak of the RNG, not anything special.  A lot of players hate children because they're useless resource sponges for 12 years, but I dind personal satisfaction when I get my fortress to a place where it could survive via internal repopulation if the migrants dried up.

This, this is something special. The RNG just gave you seven sixes out of six.

I can't be the only one who saw the fact it was two pregnant dwarfs walking toward each other in a small 1 lane path. One carrying a huge rock bigger then her, not looking where she was going.

There was a collision and suddenly...

"given birth" occurs?

If you have a very small meeting hall and a high population, the baby spam is a force to be reckoned with.

Well, female dwarves can have several babies at once since they have MULTIPLE_LITTER_RaRE. It's just exceedingly rare.

Check the two babies's description and if there were 2 announcments for the births.

Yeah, that was the first thing I checked, on the picture there should be a snapshot of the announcement showing the two separate mothers giving birth.

Still, pretty cool coincidence for what must be the second fort I've attempted in my whole life!

I do intentionally prime the occasional fort for epic tantrum spirals just for the hilarity of watching the fort implode on itself and berserk legendary miner hilarity.
