We should send a letter to the duke explaining that Marna is close to childbirth, with an invitation to see the new child once it is born.
Stay close to Marna as much as we can, dote on her if possible.

And let's not worry too much about naval stuff. We're on a river, not a coast.

And yet we were still attacked by the sea. Remarkable.

As many as we can find space for. We don't need to provide the men, our country can provide those. They will fund and man the missions, we will have the cutting edge ships. If nothing we can sell them to other lords or dukes as the case may be, or send them out, making trading deals and raids on other, lesser countries, providing for our people.

1. And how many is that, hm?
2. Is it even our place to be launching expeditions?

Sizable. If you want exact numbers I can't give them to you because most of this game is not a numbers based game.

Why not? I'm not saying pick fights with france. But are we concerned with pissing off some small tribes or groups? Fuck no.

Look, we don't need to raid, exploratory missions is completely valid too, and I would rather get a slap on the wrist for being overly ambitious than nothing because I wasn't.

Either way, we can improve upon these ships and if we can't manage a fleet, at least, let's get something a bit more formidable than two slightly burned long boats, a felluca designed for noble outings, a couple ferrys, and a handful of fishing boats.

Not exactly shaking in my boots.

Number one: We have a river, not the ocean. It may be the Mississippi, but it's the Mississippi in central Minnesota at best.

Number two: What justification do we have for a full-fledged navy for a river in the middle of the nation? Especially since the river only passes through our nation.

Number three: We are a knight who lives inland. What possible justification do we have to make an expedition down the river and to the open ocean to find national enemies?

The vikings laid siege to Paris by longboat, and thats much further inland than we are. These raiders have already attacked our land once, by boat. What further justification do we need?

1 and 2: Because we were attacked via that same river.

3: I said it served other purposes too. Exploration, trade, political. Generally commodities from other countries are worth quite a bit. Alliances could be made and developed as well as new land mapped for possible colonies (or nothing, or whatever, as the king desires it really.)

And also, as a knight and land owner of a country, isn't our job to look out for the countries best interests as well as net assets for said country.

Honestly I am surprised. You all act as if we weren't just attacked from navy vessels. I am very confident that we only drove them back because we were lucky and had shear quality troops. If our little ambush hadn't worked as well as it did the enemy would have skated into a very underguarded city (only town watch was left behind when we launched the attack) with absolutely no resistance.

We are rather reactive. Not very proactive.

Exactly. It's nice to know I'm not crazy.

This wasn't exactly a freak occurrence. We weren't invaded by aliens (well almost).

1. Really, how can you expect our little river to hold an armada and still let trading ships pass?
2. And we fought them off without any ships.

Those are national issues, not local.

And it's also our job to expect the king to be able to do his own job. If we tried to go all international-relations without even consulting the king, it's like a slap to the royal face.

I'm actually acting like we should do our job and not tread on the king's toes.
