I, and I think some other people who don't post as much, want to be a bit more honest: We enter by the gates, tell the guards our motives honestly, show the warrant when needed, and hustle to the merchant's house ASAP before arresting him and dragging him to a boat or something to leave the city.

yeah nah you don't do that

by "that" i mean speaking for people who would speak up if they wanted to, by the way, unless they actually asked you to for some reason, in case it's not clear since i don't want to spark a debate over this

on that note;

I dunno, it seems to me like you guys think that there is no rule of law in medieval kingdoms when it comes to the nobility. If that was true, if kingdoms were just anarchy pits with random barons deciding what's what then there would be no kinddoms. No system of vassalhood and fealty. But there is, there is a system of government, and it was stable enough to maintain order for hundreds and hundreds of years.

from what history taught me, i can just throw "welcome to post-jagellon poland" at you

and now to the point:

Why exactly do we need to do everything stealthly? Do you think the city guards would try to stop an armed noble taking a merchant who he has a warrant to arrest? This'll take ten minutes with the marshal, tops, and if we're good he'll even go out of his way and capture him for us. Then it's just boating it down before the count picks up anything.

I wasn't trying to imply everyone else was on my side, just some others. (And, to be honest, "posts less than I do" isn't exactly a high bar...)

The GM explicitly stated we were to treat it as more like medieval England than any other real-world place.
Anyways, in our several years there has been one, minor rebellion. A pretty peaceful time and place.

I think we need atleast a little bold here. we cant give the count or the woolmerchant alot of time to react.

we use the warrant to push through. either after the rat has set up the merchant on an easy location or not.
I liked the boat getaway idea.

there is still the issue with the hostages... I think we're hoping to get their location out of the woolmerchant (or if by some miracle the rat can help us out I guess)
but we can't exactly make a gataway and get the hostages...

I got called out by name directly and insinuated that I had no grounds for anything, when in fact I was dropping examples throughout.

I'd prefer that we do the "walk in and demand the merchant with the writ" route. If they think it's a genius idea to antagonize a drunk like that, go for it. Maldevious is going to roll some wicked sixes for this.

And we were dropping reasons why your weren't true or were true for both sides of the argument. And you really could have phrased your own points better than I rather than claim Kain called you a dumbarse. You don't really expect me to be able to cite your reasoning as well as I can my own, do you?

Don't give yourself any credit. You never cited one historical example. You talked about police, and demotions, and various other modern concepts, because that's all you had.
