Well, we can at least study the laws concerning coinage then, so we know the process of turning all that yummy silver and gold into coins we can use :)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I kinda expect heavy taxes on the mines, so I doubt there'll be much profit.

Maybe we ought to investigate the tax laws.

Year 4, April

April is upon you, and you get to work on a number of tasks. You start by holding your monthly hearing of grievances, and find nothing noteworthy in the complaints. You make a few minor rulings, but it is mostly in regards to demarcations of fields and drunken arguments.

You also spend more time with the prisoner, who seems to be getting a bit worse for his captivity. He looks sickly, and you fail to gain any new information from him. You still suspect the Count, but it seems this road may be a dead end for now.

You ask Irlof about the wool merchant implicated, and he knows very little about him. Irlof promises to keep his ears open regarding him, though.

Writing to Marna, you tell her that you would like to pay court to her at her family estate. You mention that you are currently unable to entertain her in your lands, due to certain hostilities taking place. You hope to hear back from her shortly.

Irlof comes to you with good news, in that he has obtained the services of an architect for your lands during some wheeling and dealing. Progress is going well, with some of the exterior walls completed. He expects the work to be completed within two months.

Nearby your manor, you order the construction of stables, which you staff with grooms and stable boys. You also find some volunteers to oversee the training of the horses, as well as their breeding.

You send out notice that your town is looking for a silversmith, but receive no replies as of yet. You also send out notice that you are seeking an armorer, but for now the position remains unfilled. It is difficult to lure such skilled craftsmen into such a small town, it seems, but your growing industry may help in that regard.

While you have additional plans, that is all you can accomplish this month. What would you like to do going forward?

I'm thinking send out our rangers to do recon. Maybe disguise themselves as mercenaries, (shouldn't be that hard), and sniff around for shady people under the guise of looking for work.
Have daggers forged for them though, they need a backup/stealth weapon.

Make sure that they don't get confused as brigands though.

PN= About that plan. Can anyone please explain to me how it is supposed to prove anything.

We're just reconning, don't know whet we will find. If they get contacted then we know he hasn't given up at least, and it can't hurt.

The plan is to infiltrate the count's intelligence network for proofs.

Now the "faking death" was my idea but in retrospect it is pretty silly.

We have agreed on the infiltration idea, but are failing on the next step. Proofs would be within reach but how exactly get them...
Capturing the merchant or blackmailing him could be a better idea. Through our infiltred rangers, no one will make the link. They are mercenaries and assassins, this kind of thing is expected from these kind of people. The main problem would be the count's law and guards. A big problem...

An even better idea (coming to my mind just now as I'm writing these lines), would be to intimidate the merchant into giving us (the rangers) a solid proof of the contract. Because our "experienced assassins" have been denied payment before. [rp on]"And while with lesser people the threat of turning our talents against them is usually enough, you are obviously a pawn to someone bigger. Who, I don't give a shit, as long as we got our money. But I smell we'll not be able to retrieve our due payment were we to be fooled. Be it because your higher-up has enough guards or he won't give a fuck about you being gutted. So we ask for something that ensure we will get paid full." (in the case they refuse, citing possible blackmail): "Blackmail? Who do you think we are? Noblemen? No, hunting and killing is all we do. Revealing this will make us lose a valuable client while putting us in danger. If we're not getting paid after successfully fulfilling our contract, however, it means that the client is not that valuable to us." [rp off]

Yes, yes. Alright. And what can we build this month. Let's focus on the ships, three fishing skiffs and a personal vessel. Works for me.

Yeah, let's finish the rest of the stuff from last month; finishing the shipyard(if not already done of course), building the ships, building a smokehouse for the fish we'll be catching and other meats brought in, and expanding and consolidating the metalworks and the armory. When we get an experienced armorer we can start working on proper armor for our troops but for now I think simple metal skullcaps aren't out of reach for our current workers.

Also, expand the amount of bricklayers and get working on finishing paving the rest of the streets. Also get the clayworks expanded so we can start building the entire town in brick+ stockpile brick for walls. Get permission from whoever we need to and replace the palisade with proper brick walls, though finishing our manor comes first so this can wait

Do we have enough potters and whatnot to do all that? If not, encourage our current ones to take apprentices.
