I don't understand that : don't even try to get a wife

It may be unlikely, but we may find some interesting women at the feast. Or get friendly with some

Yes, It's hard to expect for firstborn daughters of dukes and such, but even if we get rich and powerful few years later, we'll not get such a wife

Minor daughters, young widows, bastard daughters of important people and so on are quite good wifes and can boost our political standings a lot
Plus, if you ever played crusader kings, you should know that wife's skills can help the realm

And damned roleplay, either find a lover and start making bastards or look for wife, or go to a monastery.

Here's a thought. Instead of accepting whatever one-eyed third daughter of a baron we find at the feast, we could build up our reputation and wealth to attract a better wife. Polygamy is likely frowned upon.

Who said that we'll accept the first girl we met? No, we are looking for a nice one

Well, seeing as we don't have much in the way of prospects...besides, what harm cometh from waiting until we are capable of putting up a decent noble front? Say, next year?

Mind you, I still suggest we go to the party, just not that we actively search for a wife there. That could easily make us seem like we were...you know...either desperate for a wife or some kind of sleazy jerk or something.

Year 3, January

At the start of the month, you head to Carshire and use the rest of your personal coin stash to purchase some sturdy yet reasonably fashionable clothing for the feast. While in town, you cast about looking for soldiers, but you can't find any during your short trip.

However, when you return home, you find a grizzled looking man waiting at your "manor." He goes by the name of Fin, and he explains that Sir Percival sent him your way. He is trained in most types of close combat, and he would be glad to serve as your Captain. After a brief conversation, he has impressed you enough that you offer him Tor's old house and tell him to get to work.

Along those lines, you once again put out the word that your are looking for militiamen. A handful answer your calls, but it is still quite sparse. The men begin training with spears under Fin's direction.

You also tell Wood to start researching plans for a sawmill running off the power of the river. He says that this may be a bit beyond his current skills, but he will work with Irlof to try and figure it out during the cold winter.

When the feast approaches, you set off to Sir Percival's land. You arrive without incident, and soon find yourself in a room with a number of other landed gentry from the area. You note Sir Percival, as well as Sir Denton. The women, simply put, are quite a sight. Growing up on the farm, you are used to women who work the fields, and these noblewomen are a different breed altogether.

However, three in particular stand out. A blonde with piercing green eyes sits by the fireplace, sipping a glass of red wine... a sultry brunette seems to hold court with a group of young men... and a fiery redhead seems to be trying to learn how to juggle from one of the bards.

As you have around an hour before the food is served, who would you like to talk to before the feast begins?

Roleplaying, go!

Yes, Red Headed. Blond likely requires much higher level of etiquette and  brunette would need more education

Watch a bit how red head jungles and congratulate her if she shows noticable progress. Then introduce ourself

I am inclined to agree, but merely because she seems the most interesting.

The blonde seems to have high standards, too high for us. She's likely to have high ambitions and to push us very high, very fast. Icarus away.

The brunette would be some kind of party girl. Holding feasts and such. Ruinous, she would be unhappy with our poor standing, and plus, she may take lovers.

The redhead, on the other hand, strike me as the one that find fun in commonborn activities, and is reluctant to conform to the etquette. Probably the lowest ambition, she would be the one that give the least advantage when dealing with nobles, and the most when dealing with common people (the blonde being the contrary and the brunette being middle ground perhaps?). Our commonborn situation would probably attract her, while the others would dislike it.
Anyone saw "Rebelle" from pixar lately?

REDHEAD ALL THE WAY.

Introducing ourselves to her: we should put forward our commonborn origins, the fact that we are, despite our efforts, still kinda uncomfortable around noblemen and noblewomen (point toward the blonde and state hat she seems pretty terrifying). At this point make compliment about how she stand out (in all the positive ways you can think of: the surreal beauty of the nobility yet a free-spirited mind or whatever), ask about herself and start a conversation about your respective lifes.

Perhaps we should open with a probably clumsy attempt at juggling, after our inevitable failure laugh it off and introduce ourself. Then we can see where the conversation goes from there.

The blonde also piqued my interest. I don't see her as overly classy yet, she's just... reserved?
maybe she's bored. or a little shy, the fact that she's showing so little makes her all the more irresistible.

But seeing as there is overwhelming interest in the playful redhead (who can blame anyone ;) )
I'll drop my unbased forming obsession.

sadly I am somewhat horrible with flirting, so "I've got nothing"
goodluck guys! :D

use humour and intelligence.

I'd say go for the Blonde or the red head.

the Brunette looks like shes the community bike, seeing as she is surrounded by boys.

You take a few moments and observe the redhead, who seems to have caught your eye. She is quite miserable at juggling, but she seems to be enjoying herself. You walk up to her to compliment her on her "progress," and she smiles at you. A good start.

You spend a few minutes introducing yourself, and finding a bit out about her. Her name is Lady Marna, and she is the niece of the Duke, whom you haven't met yet. She is 17 years old, and she seems to be interested in your life story. She asks about your town and how you are taking to landed life, and generally seems interested in what you have to say.

You mention that you are still not quite comfortable in these types of social situations, and she nods her head. "Yes, I understand completely. I'd much rather be out hunting with my falcon."

As you get past the small talk of introductions, she nods towards the brunette holding court. "I'm surprised you didn't want to join the pack of wolves around the Count's daughter." She rolls her eyes. "She is seen as quite the catch amongst the courtiers, I'm told."

You chat amicably for a few more minutes, and you have a bit of time to ask her anything specific before you sit down. Would you like to do so?

Lets pick up on the hunting, tell her we have a few men poaching our lands for us and the town but we've never really hunted ourselves.

what does she hunt? what does she like about it? having her talk about something she gets excited about is an okay way to form a bond right?

also lets ask her how she ended up at the feast? what is her connection. I mean she is a niece of a duke. but the duke isn't here is he?
