I think a watermill might be a better idea that a windmill. Costs less, and is a bit more productive. (If the river doesn't freeze, that is).

but my dutch blood cries out for a windmill =(
Water is more predictable than wind, so I support watermill, sorry. :(
And still + saw for me. Mining is slightly less important than booze.

Still+saw, we can't keep putting off Marge, I think we even gave her our word we would get her a still (im not sure about this but hey, the lady needs her livelyhood and we need the sweet sweet booze)

I think the mine would make more sense in an economical sense though.

as for the saw, we'll need support beams for the mine aswell. so its sort of an investment for the mine aswell as general construction.

also yeah =( a watermill does make more sense, (what are valleys? I have never seen one ;) j/k, its pretty flat here, which is probably the reason why windmills are so prevalent in the Netherlands)

I agree. We made it two years without stonework and metal. Try and scout for a new military captain, somebody who didn't lead one force but used joint tactics, like we do. Or a priest. Or whatever. Pretty much look for anyone useful in town.

I agree with the Quest for the Holy Still, and possibly a priest.
We should make the festival an annual tradition. I think the economic and morale boost is worth the price
Agreed on both points. (Consider organizing the Fairest Maiden contest officially next year. Or at least officially recognizing it or something.)

I vote water>wind for mills, and would like to point out that alcohol is a pretty good trade good...which we can even sell to our own people!

We should start on the vineyard next. It looks like that is a niche not yet filled at this location. Plus we fly through time so much (how this game is set up) that each month we could decide if we want to pull a cask out or leave it in. Deciding if it is good or not. We would have to pull a matter expert in though.

Man... getting that mine to be profitable is going to be a hassle, I know it. First we will need to get the mine set up, the a furnace, then a skilled smith with a forge, all the while watching out for pollution. Egh.

We have severe winters. It's unlikely the grapes will survive.

At the beginning of winter?!? Once the weather warms up, sure, but not now.

Pollution? What's pollution?

I'm just speaking on when things become convenient.

Pollution was a concern of someone else. I don't think it will be a problem (considering we don't know about industrialism) really either.

The product of labor and a petty waylay for somebody of our status or drive. A nonconcern.

Brewery is more important than the mine currently methinks.

Year 2, November

November is mild this year, which suits you well, as you have a good deal of travelling planned. You bring Marge Kannity along, in order to pick out a still, as well as Irlof, who has become your de facto adviser in all things money and trade. Alan also accompanies you, wary of leaving you alone without a guard.

You head to the abbey first, where you find the monks much more amenable to selling you a still this time. They seem to have bought one too many last year, expecting more turnover in their stock than they had, and now have an extra one lying around. Irlof is able to negotiate an unbelievable price for it, and you purchase it without any issue. You send Marge back to Feroshire with it to start setting up shop.

You continue your journey towards Sir Denton's land, and you attempt to put in for a visit, but he is apparently off visiting his wife's family. You poke around in his town looking for a saw for a mill, but are unable to locate one. While you are in the area, you head to Sir Percival's land to check there. You almost immediately stumble across a logging camp, which incidentally has a few extra blades for sale. Irlof once again negotiates a stunningly good price, and you send him back to Feroshire with the blades and instructions for Wood to start drawing up plans.

While in the area, you decide to visit Sir Percival. Alan goes ahead, and when you arrive, the two men are sitting in the drawing room of his small estate. What would you like to talk about?

Roleplaying, go!

"Mixed but over all well. I make this trip on accounts of business. I had intended to seek out a saw for my planned mill and a still to finish my meager brewery... My land has suffered it's first loss recently and the people still mourn, despite not speaking of it. I mention this because among the dead was my military advisor. Tell me sir, how did you come to meet your military advisor?

Sir Percival looks concerned as you mention the loss your people suffered. "Yes, Alan was speaking with me of your clash with those brigands just before you arrived. I can see how that would shake your people. I understand that it didn't exactly go to plan, but that your side prevailed."

"As far as my military advisor, I met him while campaigning with the King during the last war. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your man."
