Or that, a bear-skin rug would look snazzy in our manor though *grumble*

We are armed with only a blunted sword and a small dagger, clad in furs. We aren't equipped for hunting bear and will only get ourselves killed taking it on. So I support Gerv

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

What better way to train heroic combat then strangling a bear to death while virtually naked? We need more godly feats of strength.

I'm all about calculated bravery that advances our goals, but this is just an accidental mistake.

A mistake can easily become an opportunity to win fame, prestige, perhaps a nice skill boost, and more stories to tell our child when he can speak.

"Papa tell me again about that time you strangled a bear to death..."

"If it chases us, poke it in the face with sword jabs and try to keep it at a distance. I'll try to get behind it, and blind its eyes with my dagger. But keep moving slowly back with me unless it charges."

(And if it does charge, we'll get that opportunity. I may not want to fight it, but I won't lose these men so soon after Alan.)

Excellent, good compromise +1

(Is it bad that I want the bear to charge?)

Backing off would be the best thing to do at the moment, we can come back later with a group of hunters and some trappers and try capture the mama bear and cubs.

Then we can try either put them on display alive in some part of the town or try taming them?

Bears dont live in couple. Back off slowly. A bear rug may be nice, but not a mama bear rug. Nor baby bear rugs, you heartless monster :'(

It's an animal, our survival and luxury is obviously far more important as we are Gods chosen creation  :P

Despite being physically inferior to almost any animal...

You calmly tell your men to back away slowly, and start to do so, sticking close together. The bear lets out a great bellowing roar, and stands its ground, glaring at you. Your breath catches in your throat, and you put a few feet between yourself and the mighty beast.

As you back up, you give your men some quick orders. If it charges, they are to attempt to fend it off with their swords, while you sneak around to stab its eyes out with your dagger. They mumble some discontent at your plan, but keep their grumbling to a minimum, their attention held by the hulking bear.

And truly, this is a bear of epic proportions. You estimate it must be nearly nine feet while standing on its hind legs. With one more horrible growl, it stomps down and begins a loping charge at you and your men. Fin and Oswald flash their blades at it, and the beast pulls back, circling around, and then charges again with renewed vigor.

This bear is coming at you now, there is no doubt about it. You have a second to consider your actions. Fin and Oswald prepare to strike out. What will you do?

Hell yes a fight
dodge the bears initial charge, get behind it and attempt to injure the head or eyes

Well, this nine-foot bear is something more than I was thinking of clambering on back of... we could try ramming our sword down its gullet first with a well-timed two-handed strike when it tries to bite. I expect even a dull point would pierce its soft gullet. We'd probably take a few swipes of the paws, but we have fur clothing.

If that attempt fails, we fall back to the dagger plan.

We apparently have its aggro, so yeah, let's try this. It's going to try to lock us with a bite. Anyone is free to suggest a better course. :)

High guard! Like an Ochs guard, or something that protects the face. They bite the face first. As a woodsman, we'd know this.

Don't be afraid to ruin our swords shoving them down the bears throat.
