Our entire county combined probably doesn't have enough people to even scratch the surface of that army. We'll need the King's support for a pitched battle.

We need to focus on asymmetrical warfare until then. We could try to find out where the enemy's supply line is and then launch raids on their food caravans. Steal their food and try to smuggle it into the city. They can raid the surrounding villages for a while, but eventually they'll have to make a choice between concentrating on the siege or spreading their forces thin to scavenge food and protect their supply line.
...

you're probably right, even though I would just like to march up there, It wont do anything if we cant bring up the force to break the siege.
the best we can do (and thus should do) is trying to help out Duke Erran by harrassing and smuggling.

I agree, kinda convienant how the situation we're faced with fits our armies specialization perfectly. We need to raid supplies and raise alarms and that's about all we can do

Yeah, if they do have to scavenge, why don't we use our rangers to burn their stocks, flaming arrows into wagons of grain and the like?

I suggest we send out a good amount of citizens to set up pitfall traps around the area to least trap some of army, dig a moat attaching to river so we can least stall them for more days , makes noose and booby traps to least injure some of their men and get started on basic wooden tempory fortifications and simple balistas.

I say we conscript a few of the rufugees with woodsman skills into the rangers and send them out to gather/destory anything the Invaders can use so support themselves(Anvils,Granaires, boats, horses, livestock, weapons, etc). Any mabye have a loss shipment of posion ale get a little close to there camp. ;)

I don't think that is a good idea personally, the army doesn't care about our town, they are going for the prize. We are a side note to them. use our man power on other things, the worse we could get is a raiding group to try and get our own supplies, maybe 200 men tops. We can hold that with our militia and current troops if we stay behind the walls. If he detatches a major portion of his men the Duke might sally forth and fight his main force. The only thing that worries me is if the count is in on this,

I'd rather not cower behind our palisade while our wife's uncle is under siege.

She's pregnant, and her uncle is in mortal danger, I feel like she'd probably stab us if we just sat here and didn't fight.

We need to raise the levy and contact the king as soon as possible. We should start on indirect geurilla tactics with our troops, make our enemy feel miserable.

I completely agree. Let's rally our fellow statesmen and the king and begin our attacks pestering our enemy, starving, and torturing them until our help arrives and we can give them all of the information on our enemy we have gathered.

We must act.

Seconded.  Harry and inconvenience the enemy, try to prevent them from scouring this far up the river and make damn sure we get riders to the King so when he arrives we have decent intel for him.  Get immediate aid from the local lords and abbey if we can and start causing trouble.

We might as well give our heir a tale to tell by the fireside - even if we end up missing a leg while telling it.

And finally, if you guys think the Medieval age wasn't an anarchy, think again. The Holy Roman Empire which was little more than several dozen city states, principalities and small kingdoms constantly smacking ten bells out of each other, the constant warring between France,England and Spain, which usually dragged in Ireland, Scotland and Portugal. The fighting in Scandinavia, Italian civil wars between city states. ETC ETC Not to mention the constant infighting in all those countries. All this, and it would only be the EARLY ERA of the Medieval age. The High Period was much more active.
True enough, but the armies of every one of those little states would be gunning for you if you abused that fact too badly, so it usually worked out.

I suggest we send out a good amount of citizens to set up pitfall traps around the area to least trap some of army, dig a moat attaching to river so we can least stall them for more days , makes noose and booby traps to least injure some of their men and get started on basic wooden tempory fortifications and simple balistas.

It's a bad wife that would put her husband's life in certain danger and barely less certainty of death to provide absolutely no chance of helping her uncle.

Anyways, we should definitely inform ever lord we can about this ASAP. Trouble will find us, we don't need to look for it just yet.

Ah I did not mean to cower, but wait, harass as we can, but stay and wait for reinforcements. We are not playing Mount and Blade, our hand full of men cant take their entire army.

Aye, a mounted force, even if they dismount like dragoons, will be excellent at harassing. And, we might be able to finally outshine the count totally. Imagine a small lord defending the Duke, while the Count hides with his tail between his legs.
