You can't quite make out which direction the sounds are coming from, but it sounds like it's reverberating around several times before coming to you. You estimate around 30 feet.

The person's legs appear - one boot is fairly worn, the other is mismatched and a bit bloody. As the person comes down, you see some torn pants, which look like they are from a lab coat. The person appears to be male, and is breathing heavily. You see a worn pistol holster on his belt, but the pistol is gone, probably in hand.
As the person moves lower, you raise your pistol and aim it at him - your hand is shaking a bit. He's still moving down the ladder, but might see you soon.
