Re: The Art of Minimalism IV: Turn 2: The Toroidal Cloud of Hydrogen
« Reply #18 on: December 27, 2012, 10:34:26 am »

Create hydrogen in the void. Create lots and lots and lots of it.
[4] Hydrogen spreads out through the void, clumping in some places.

Grow  larger, MUCH LARGER. MUHAAHAHAHA
You don't have an actual physical form, so...sure.

Fuse the other universal edges together to turn the torus into a Klein Bottle.
[1] You trap yourself in a Klein-bottle alternate dimension. Then a garbage can and a nonut hit you in the metaphysical head.

Make oxygen.
[4] Oxygen created.

Make habital planet.
[3] You create a planet which would probably be habitable, if it was near a source of heat and light. I'll call it...Toh.

Create intelegent life on planets.
Also make more solar systems.
[5] You create a whole ecosystem of aliens--two, in fact. The Dertakans are trolls made of fire who have large litters. The Furmeans are thin, with slug-like bodies and specialized limbs. Other notable species on both worlds (which share species other than their races) include a race of spindly creatures who reproduce asexually and are symbiotic with plants; one-eyed bears which reproduce quickly and have four tentacles coming out of their backs; cantankerous cattle made of earth and stone; a small dolphin-like creature with a complicated life cycle; and a race of clumsy fish with stinger-tails and stubby arms for pectoral fins, probably explaining the clumsiness. Phew. I'll...I'll let other people name these species.

Make another attempt at this Pocket Dimension thing
You notice a Klein dimension. [5] Now it can only be entered! You toss the nonut and garbage can in celebratoraly!

Create galaxies.
Fill them with a couple of races. Including humans.

Speed up hydrogen clumping sufficiently to cause nuclear fusion. Make it long-term sustainable.

Engrave on planets.
[6] All planets are given heavy marks, down to the magma. [6,3,4; all -1] Dertaka crumbles into a bunch of rocks and a ball of magma, forming a lifeless moon and a bunch of rings for the Furmeans. Aside from some Dertakans, everything on Dertaka dies. Toh isn't doing so well, either; its crust is crumbling some.
Oops.

Begin collapsing portions of the hydrogen cloud.
AND LET THERE BE MORE LIGHT!
[6] You create a black hole. Smooth.

THROW IRON INTO COLLAPSING SPHERES.
[2] Not enough iron.

Create galaxies.
Fill them with a couple of races. Including humans.
[1] You create another black hole. You decide to be a benevolent being and not create a couple of races for the exclusive purpose of throwing them into a supermassive black hole.

Speed up hydrogen clumping sufficiently to cause nuclear fusion. Make it long-term sustainable.
[4] You create some stars.

Create the big bang.
[5] You create a massive BANG, spreading more hydrogen, helium, and lithium into the universe.

Create a vast ring of metal encicling around the sun
There are now 5 stars. Picking one at random, you [2] create a ring of helium around it.

Make the edge of the universe connect to the indside of it in mindbending ways.
[3] The universe is now...I'm not sure what you'd call it. It's like a torus, but the inner edge is connected to the outer edge. It's like a hypersphere or something. Let's go with that. It's not too mind-bending, though. Interaction with the singularity means that the universe is essentially a massive pit, in which you end up back where you start no matter which direction you go. Infinitely finite.
