I have to interject here - having done this sort of thing multiple times, you need to find some way of either holding him to his promise or getting him to cooperate. Bribing doesn't work, trust me.

also, i wasn't going to eat the whole universe, just a small part and wipe out all non-madness life. everything but the life forms would have been untouched
