Welcome to Bay 12 Jeopady! Here you can step up to test your video game knowledge against other denizens of TRL.
This is going to take a bit of explaining so bear with me. I present my explanation in a Q&A format.

Q: Jeopardy on a forum? How will that work?
A: With a little help from Skype. This will allow everything to be played out in real time instead adjust time for posting in a thread. Due to the lack of a buzzer in Skype at the beginning of a game you will be asked to pick a unique buzzer sound. Otherwise, it will be played just like real Jeopardy, with the champion of a game returning in the next game. I will start the call about 10 minutes before the game to let people get in.

Q: How can I keep track of the clues and points?
A: I'm using a online program to create custom Jeopardy games. The program allows creation of games to be played online by anyone.

Q: Will you be allowing people to join as an audience?
A: Absolutely! Audience members will be allowed to have their mics on pre-game but will have to mute them once the game starts. Audience members will also double as backup players in case somebody doesn't make it. To join the audience just add me on skype.

Q: Can I help write questions?
A: Yes you can. If you want to write questions just make a category and five questions of increasing difficulty for it. PM those to me and I'll put them in a game when I feeling low on material. I will let you know ahead of time if I'm using your questions because you obviously can't participate in a game you made questions for.

I know there's a lot of questions I probably didn't answer. If you think of one let me know and I'll answer it. I will announce a date for the first game once I have enough people.
Also I'm looking to see if this would be a good idea of if anybody would be interested. Please let me know.

1: You'd be surprised -- moreso if we have low standards on the obscurity of the high value questions, as it's remarkably easy to osmose thousands of little things about nerd culture, but even if we want a smattering of not-commonly-known facts in there... some people remember useless facts too easily. 8^)

You have a point Cobbler. I've edited the OP. I'll write up the questions for the first game, and then if other people want to write them I'll let them.

Edit: I'm halfway done with the first game. Don't be afraid to send in questions though. I'd be happy to get a backlog going.

You wouldn't be playing a video. Can your computer handle a simple flash application along with Skype? If it can't you don't have to use the flash app, you could just use a piece of paper to keep track of the points and which questions have been asked. That's all I'm using the app for anyways.

Of course, I say that and then in the next few days feel no bursts of old videogame trivia inspiration, nor any need to spend excessive time on TV Tropes.

I guess I could dig up guides to games I've played and start asking questions like "What was in the leftmost chest in the room on the third floor of the Gurgu Volcano in the original Final Fantasy for the NES?" but that might border on pedantic; it's finding good questions about things that people would actually know, but only if they did happen to be familiar with the game in question, that makes it fun.

Well, I'll P.M. you if a set of questions does come to me. ;^)
