Haven't written in this thing for a while. Too much political intrigue for my tastes, and going over it in my head makes my tongue taste sour. Don't know how all these nobles stand it. They're probably just inured.

I'm getting stronger with my powers every day, though. After hitting that vampire, I came up with a tweak for one of my other powers. Why cast a spell on someone else, when I can cast it on myself and then use it several times?

I also made a petition to the king for special training... to be a royal assassin. They have all sorts of tricks that I'd like to learn, but I have to pass a test first. Here's a mark, kill them, no questions asked.

...It makes me sound like a bad person. And there have been two separate incidents recently where my companions have had to rein me in from going overboard with the violence. But the royal assassins are adamant; you are unworthy of being an assassin if you cannot kill on demand. But the skills they have are handy, and if I save more than one person with what I learn from them, then it was a worthy trade. It's cold, but I'd gladly trade one life to protect several.

Maybe what they teach me will help me protect myself from whoever the illumians send to bring me back. I have no doubt they will indeed send someone, someday. They probably have, long since, and just haven't caught up to me yet. I sound paranoid saying it, but I know they won't give up looking for me this easily. The Oathtower illumians are nothing if not tenacious. Come to think of it, though, by this point they might underestimate me. I've actually derived more mysteries on my own in the last month or two than I did after almost twenty years with master Veshnoal. I did tell him some of his underlying theories about the nature of shadow magic were wrong.

Perhaps I should hire an investigator, to see if anyone in contact with Oathtower has entered the capitol city recently. Then again, if I do that, they can just as easily find out who hired him... Maybe I'll do my own "investigation" sometime, preferably without too much talking involved. But that will have to be later. For now, I have training and exercises.

On that note, DM, do you want to have a minisession to have Eosri kill someone? Or just gloss over the details of it and say he ambushed them from a tree with ray powers?

The short version: We beat up a vampire (he's not perma-dead though) and his wife surrendered to us, so that war's off, but we still need to go F**K the Duke up and Will hasn't posted our l00t yet.

As people may have noted, I've gotten back into my account from my laptop. I'm going to have my data recovered from my old computer (if all goes according to plan) in the next week. That's basically where all of the information about this campaign is stored. So we're going to have a game next week I hope, and I will endeavor to get on getting you guys your loot in the meantime.
