Scribblenauts Unlimited, US to EU.
« on: November 23, 2012, 06:56:50 am »

Seeing as the EU release for this has been pushed back to 2013 for unknown but most assuredly dastardly reasons I was wondering if it would still be possible for someone in the US to gift it to someone in the EU.

If this would be possible I would be willing to gift a game of your choice (of roughly equal price) in exchange for it.

Problem solved.

It may actually be illegal to do that.

Also yeah I am eyeing Scribblenauts unlimited pretty hard too... I just don't want to spend 30 bucks for it right now. I am hoping steam puts it on 50% sale.

It's even better when you can't get the game in an English speaking country because of "localisation". What the hell are they localising? Making sure everyone walks around shirtless in akubras? ... Actually I might be okay with that ...

Well they have to change "Chemist" to being a "Pharmacist" in Britain.

But to my knowledge often it is because they lump Europe as Europe. So it is delayed because you don't get in on the english bandwagon.

Makes no sense in my opinion..

In britain a Pharmacist is called a Chemist.

If someone said they were a Chemist over here... Someone would think they were a scientist of chemistry rather then medical chemistry.

Actually you can buy the game right now, even if you're European.
There was a trick on RPS. Let me get it...

Joshua IX says:

For EU customers, if you go to https://store.steampowered.com and login, then navigate to https://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us you can buy the game via the website. I literally just did so myself (from the UK). You don’t require a proxy or anything and it shows up immediately in your library :)

I didn't test it, but other commentators said this trick's working! But don't ask me if it's legal or not. Nobody knows.

Ooh I just tested it, purchase went through fine, in fact it even said something like "Hey, you are not 'merican so we are converting the price to your region." In the end it costed me 28 euros but it is currently downloading just like any other purchase.

EDIT: Game started. Time for some of that scribbling.

I would like to point out that us Canadians use the British spellings for most things, yet don't wait (and get stuck with lazy american spelling).

Nobody in America (well... nobody with an education) spells Laser with a Z... not sure what he's on about.
