Don't be silly, you don't have to send the skyranger for UFO's shot down over water.

Although water missions for them would make a neat expansion if they don't want to go full TFTD with the new iteration.

What? Lobstermen are here and we don't even have Gauss tech yet? Let's hope that we have gas cannons  and sufficient ammo in stock, then. Oh, and lots of recruits.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a standard round of XCOM. No matter which game it is, if stuff isn't going wrong on a mission-by-mission basis, it's not XCOM. Even if it's the smallest of "oh shit" moments, it must still happen.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

Dang I remember one battle where the aliens were fanned out perfectly behind cover and every time I played the round one of them would pop out and fry one of my guys. No way around it. Eventually I got a start where one of my least useful guys got zapped. Great! Start my turn, best guy fires, accidentally hits my second best guy and wastes him.

D:

I think the aliens don't need to invade, just throw down holograms near armed humans and wait a few minutes until we're all dead.

That said, original XCOM is a pretty sweet game.

Its a bit easier to distinguish which you guys are talking about when people remember that one has a implied dash (XCOM), and one always had the dash (X-Com).

Or you can just call the original X-Com: UFO Defense and the remake X-Com: Enemy Unknown.

The original was named both, though. Some places had UFO Defense, some had Enemy Unknown, both had the same game.

Yes, but the remake only has one, so it isn't hard to decide which should go to which.

Eitherway, with/without the dash is shorter to type. ;D
