Forgotten Beast Blood
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:04:54 pm »

My dwarves killed a forgotten beast, finally. But two of my dwarves got the "deadly blood" on them and they are dead. My dead commander named his sword, and it is covered with the blood.

What I want to know: If the weapon is used to attack something, will the blood cause the creature to be attacked to die? Or will the blood kill the sword's wielder?

Blood is like a sticky object. I'm betting you're having pools of that blood around, right? Get any dwarves that have to go on those tiles booted - meaning get them to wear boots. It seems you've encountered a beast that can kill via blood-skin contact.

The weapon coated in that blood will cause the creature to die, regardless of it...being coated with blood because the dwarf will kill it or die trying (:P). If you meant the coating - possibly. It will die by sword faster than that though.

If blood > Sword, it will not kill the wielder but be coated in that blood forever unless wielder passes into a water tile which clears any liquids on the item.

Make a lot of gloves and socks, just to make sure everyone are safe. Gloves prevents the hand from touching the blood, the socks stops the blood from getting to the feet.

No idea what the blood will do, it's probably going to kill whatever it's stabbed with. If it's organic, that is :D

The blood itself killed two of my legendary soldiers a few minutes after the beast was killed, but the blood is deep in the caves.

The blooded weapon should poison any creature that has flesh contact with it.  A dwarf wearing gloves/gauntlets should be fine.  Any stab wound (or even a whack to unclothed skin) should cause the receiving creature to become poisoned with the syndrome.

Toughen Dwarves by dropping stuff on them.  (Nothing too heavy though, and make sure to wear armor.)
