ESCAPE.
[6] You jump to your feet, ignoring the sickening pain and funny noises, and promptly begin dashing around.
It quickly occurs to you that this room is circular and lacks a way out. There's an ovaloidish stone thing with giant runes on it set into the wall, but otherwise it's just bookshelves.
Also you feel woozy.
Meanwhile..."...yes, well, I suppose I'll mark down this ridiculous claiming system and worry about the details later.
In any case, your first task, heh, is to build a prison for your aggressive friend in there. It needn't be overly elaborate, of course; I'm sure he'll be more than happy with a small box and rather light rations, don't you think?
The winner of this task shall receive... oh... how about some fine wine and a proper meal. Perhaps something extra, depending on the quality," he finishes with a malicious looking grin.
"So, I'll... leave you to that. Should you have need of my services as Quartermaster, ah... well, I have business to attend to, but I will return shortly."With that, he vanishes with a slight flare of bluish white, considerably less flashy than the Master's appearances.
Elsewhere...The imp sighed.
Amongst the many other tasks assigned to him, his Master had commanded him to find a fourth Apprentice. The Master was convinced that this was a sign, and that the fourth needed to be something special.
Trying to argue that it was very difficult
not to be special amidst three unwashed peasants had proven fruitless, as common sense and reason often was, and so now he was tasked with finding a fourth who was "special" in some manner. Several ideas had occurred to him already- he could have a corpse animated, summon something, or have the apprentices fuse several living creatures into an amalgamation that would surely murder them all in the process.
But there was one other thing he'd considered, and he wanted to try it.
A Whisper Stone.
Properly attuned, a Whisper Stone allowed the bearer to hear whispers from beyond. The pits of hell, the realms of the damned, the space between stars- there was no shortage of entities willing to whisper their secrets to any who would listen.
Naturally, finding such entities worth listening to was a different matter- most Whisper Stones were attuned to a specific area, and managed to accomplish little except drive their bearers mad, with occasional bouts of inspiration and heedless ambition. In the hands of someone who knew what they were doing, however, it could be an invaluable tool, combing the cosmos for possible leads.
Perhaps it'd prove useful this time?
The imp is now taking suggestions as to what the Master's fourth Apprentice should be.Herald Dugrath (Weirdsound)
