KILL!
EVERYTHING!
WITHIN!
REACH!
AT!
ANY!
POINT!!
[2] vs [5] You flail uselessly at Snake, trying to grab him in a bearhug, but he slips out under you.

[2][1][1] ... I'm bound to either get better luck soon, or spontaneously stop existing once the Universe realizes what's happening.

Savage the angry guy.
[6] vs [4] You rain down savage blows upon him as he shields himself with his arms. You're kind of tired at the end.

Screw blood collection. Use the bastard as a punching bag.
[4] vs [1] You work him over nice and good while he fails to defend himself, arms always moving to block your blows too slowly and leaving the rest of him open.

Doodles collapses on the floor, too wounded to continue standing. The imp cracks a vicious smile.

"Wonderful! Most of you aren't so useless after all," he says, sparing a glare at Malagar.

"So. If you're all ready, I can begin instructing you on the finer points of your new... residence. There's even a task that needs completing," he adds, glancing at Doodles' prone form.

Grab a large book, hold out in front protectively, but approach and listen carefully.

"HELP ME OR YOU DIE, STUPID PUNY ARCHMAGE!"

LASH OUT ANGRILY BUT FEEBLY AT EVERYTHING!
[5] You flail as angrily as a savagely beaten guy on the ground can. It's very impressive, but you're not within reach of anyone.

The imp narrows his eyes at the coward behind the book, then snaps his fingers twice. There's a swirl of green energy, and everyone but Doodles finds themselves back in that red-carpeted room from earlier.

This time, however, the imp is standing in front of a blackboard.

"As I'm sure you have all been completely ignorant of, this room is shaped like a circle. That's the one with no corners or points, just a smooth line all around. Like I just drew."

You suspect he doesn't have much faith in your knowledge of geometry.

"However, in the center of this room, there is supposed to a staircase leading downwards. It has been hidden to avoid unfortunate incidents regarding idiot buffoons in the Tower."

He pauses for longer than any of you are really comfortable with.

"This staircase leads to several distinct levels of the Tower. Each level corresponds to a different location, and, being magical, these locations are completely separate. The Tower is the only point of access between them.

More specifically, the Tower possesses six proper levels and six balconies. Proper level floors are characterized by a decently sized landing leading out to them. Balconies are smaller and possess to exit to the environments they display.

Now then. Proper floors are an excellent source of raw materials and simple space; accordingly, one of your expected duties as Apprentices is to gather materials and expand the Tower. Balconies are considerably less useful in that regard- you are strictly forbidden from exiting via them."

He gives you a few moments for this to sink in before continuing.

"However, there are several issues regarding these feats. Namely, the Master has seen fit to follow a more... accommodating style of command. Specifically, he has left it vague and undefined as to how you are to claim territory or distribute earnings.

Put in simple terms, you worthless mooks get to keep what you gather or build, and can follow any pattern regarding claimed ownership of individual levels or resources. Favor may be awarded to those that donate useful, and I do mean useful, things to the Tower itself or the Master specifically.

Meaning do not attempt to bribe the Master with rocks or pass off your failures as generous donations to your comrades.

So, with that information in mind, I feel it would be wise to decide upon a manner of divvying or claiming possessions. Oh, and I am, amongst other things, the Quartermaster of this Tower. I can, should it suit me, sell you things as exorbitant prices, obviously accepting credit as you have nothing of value. When it pleases me, that is."

-Heh. Expanding the tower is one of our duties. This should be right up my alley, assuming I can build bits out of wood.-

"Excuse me sir. Exactly how are we expected to expand the tower?"

ESCAPE
[2] You gurgle.

-Heh. Expanding the tower is one of our duties. This should be right up my alley, assuming I can build bits out of wood.-

"Excuse me sir. Exactly how are we expected to expand the tower?"
"The old-fashioned way, mostly. Chop down a tree or dig out some stone, fashion it into a suitable form, lay it down as flooring or walls. Obviously if you had any useful magical ability that could be used instead, but you don't.

However, the Tower has been known to smooth the process along a bit. Assuming you connect it properly, the magic of the Tower may seep in, which will improve your creations, evening out imperfections and strengthening the bonds."

Herald turns to the remaining two apprentices.

"Well, there are three of us, and 6 floors. I say we figure out what each floor contains, and each claim two of them. If there is any conflict over who gets what, we can agree to share or draw lots."

Herald turns to the Imp. "Any chance you could save us the trouble and describe the contents of each floor, Mr. Quartermaster Sir?"

The imp sighs, seemingly unfurling a scroll from nowhere and glancing at it.

"In descending order, that would be a dark realm, a forest, volcanic lands, solid rock, open desert, and a snow blizzard."

"I wouldn't mind the Darkness myself, but my first choice is the forest. As long as I get that, I will be happy with what is left."
