Practice passion dance. Preferably out of sight of the other apprentices, but it probably doesn't much matter at level 1.
That passion dance kind of requires another person; that's sort of where it gets most of its passion from.
[2] vs [1] The gold-eyed guy is flailing around enough to probably not mind, so you try to dance with him. This mainly results in you tripping into him as he pirouettes a bit.
Needless to say, this does not make you better at magic.
"What! Is! Wrong! With! You!"
Smash Herald with book!
[2] vs [1] You feebly swipe at him, but he turns at the last second to let you flick his nose. AHA!
Continue to read books hoping to absorb useful and relevant information, focus search to books on divination and scrying.
[3] There's way too much in here that might kind of be useful or relevant at some point to just memorize it all, and
none of it seems particularly useful or relevant right now. It's almost more like a series of puzzles than, say, a series of riddles.
You also can't really find books on "divination" or "scrying" specifically. There's references to things that seem to indicate similar concepts, but it doesn't seem to be organized along those lines, or else the stuff focusing on them is missing.
Follow the principals outlined in the book and try to form bugs from blood.
[6] You try to grab the blood, and surprisingly, succeed at pulling out a bug made of blood!
...unfortunately it doesn't seem to be alive or anything, it's just a bug-shaped globule. Also that budding berserker wings your nose with a book. Ow.
