-Heh. Gotta love the calming influence of slapstick violence. Now then, lets see what sort of manly magic is inside this nice pink book...-

Herald will read the pink book.
[4] Interesting... the book appears to detail how to utilize existing magical power- you think your Talent might suffice- to control liquids and goo-like substances.

Wake up.
Feel calm.
Remember I have a silly "talent."
Get angry.
Smash something.

-Hey. I actually understand this! This magic stuff isn't so complicated! Lets try to apply this stuff!-

Try to develop a style of summoning that consists of forming bugs/small animals out of liquid. If I can't find a liquid, use spit. Use the book as a reference.

-sigh- in frustration, find something reflective, if found then begin attempting to use reflective sight to look at other parts of the tower.

Try to find a dance magic spell that will influence people to give me money.
[6] You manage to come up with an idea for a very passionate, sensuous dance. That... could probably translate into people giving you money.

Finalize it?

Wake up.
Feel calm.
Remember I have a silly "talent."
Get angry.
Smash something.

[1] OW. Apparently facesmashing things doesn't work as well as... you thought it'd work.

Really, ow.

[4] It doesn't quite seem to work out. It's like there's no bugs in your spit, so you can't snatch any out of it; you can't figure out how to "summon" or form fake ones.

-sigh- in frustration, find something reflective, if found then begin attempting to use reflective sight to look at other parts of the tower.
[4] You can't really work out viewing "other parts of the tower;" the ability seems limited to actual reflections, not some sort of magical seeing anything instead of a reflection or seeing anything that's being reflected anywhere.

You're not entirely sure why magic can't magically do that, but presumably that's related to you not being a very good mage.

Finalize dance. Not for legal methods of getting money, of course, that would be beneath a great wizard such as myself. It's for, uh, getting people not to complain about actions of burglary.

-Urrmmm... Okay. That didn't work. Alright Herald... think. Spit don't work... What other liquids do I have available to me? ...Oh. Crap. This is going to suuuuuuuuck.-

Herald will inflict a minor cut upon himself, and try again with his own blood. Failing that he will search the area for other liquids to use.

[1] You fumble a book away and then smash the stone floor with your bare hand.

Ow. You have got to stop doing that.

Also the orb is nowhere to be found.

Finalize dance. Not for legal methods of getting money, of course, that would be beneath a great wizard such as myself. It's for, uh, getting people not to complain about actions of burglary.
You finalize your dance, and with it, your grasp of Dance Magic.

Unfortunately, both are still rather tenuous. You'd put your current level of mastery about on par with setting up part of an awkward date.

[6] Failing to have anything to cut yourself with, you go help whatshisface bash his hands repeatedly into the ground. This attains some blood for you to use.

[1] You slip on it and hit your head.

Practice passion dance. Preferably out of sight of the other apprentices, but it probably doesn't much matter at level 1.

Continue to read books hoping to absorb useful and relevant information, focus search to books on divination and scrying.

Practice passion dance. Preferably out of sight of the other apprentices, but it probably doesn't much matter at level 1.
That passion dance kind of requires another person; that's sort of where it gets most of its passion from.

[2] vs [1] The gold-eyed guy is flailing around enough to probably not mind, so you try to dance with him. This mainly results in you tripping into him as he pirouettes a bit.

Needless to say, this does not make you better at magic.

"What! Is! Wrong! With! You!"

Smash Herald with book!
[2] vs [1] You feebly swipe at him, but he turns at the last second to let you flick his nose. AHA!

Continue to read books hoping to absorb useful and relevant information, focus search to books on divination and scrying.
[3] There's way too much in here that might kind of be useful or relevant at some point to just memorize it all, and none of it seems particularly useful or relevant right now. It's almost more like a series of puzzles than, say, a series of riddles.

You also can't really find books on "divination" or "scrying" specifically. There's references to things that seem to indicate similar concepts, but it doesn't seem to be organized along those lines, or else the stuff focusing on them is missing.

Follow the principals outlined in the book and try to form bugs from blood.
[6] You try to grab the blood, and surprisingly, succeed at pulling out a bug made of blood!

...unfortunately it doesn't seem to be alive or anything, it's just a bug-shaped globule. Also that budding berserker wings your nose with a book. Ow.

Blood Magic 1 gained!
Blood Animal 1 gained!
