Quick question - how to remove shrubs?
« on: November 07, 2012, 06:24:48 am »

Hi

I want to remove a shrub so i can build a wall and/or draw bridge.  The wikki says they "can be designated for action, such as to be dug out or removed" - but doesn't say how you do this and there doesn't seem to be an option for this in the Designate menu.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure as I've never had this problem but i believe you can designate to gather plants from the d menu?

You need a swarf with the plant gathering labour though.

Hope this helps.

I've never had problem building on a shrub. Are you sure it's not a tree?

You can build on shrubs and tree saplings. They will get instantly desintegrated the moment the construction finishes.

We should weaponize that.

Constructions won't complete if something occupies their space.

I never removed any shrubs when constructing roads or something alike. Remember to set your bridge to "raise" and not "retracting" if you want it to form a wall.

Constructions won't complete if something occupies their space.
While technically true, that "something" only counts units and items, not vegetation (or vermin).

dead shrubs are purely cosmetic. You can build over them without any problems. You can, if you wish, apply magma to remove them. But that would be purely cosmetic use of magma.
