I've got the world setup guys!! Now I just need some help uploading it, I think I even have the location. (Temperate Freshwater Swamp Calm/Temperate Conifer Forest Haunted)+clay/verydeepsoil/shallow/deep/flux.

How does one go about sharing worlds with others?

There's a section on DFFD for it.
http://dffd.wimbli.com/category.php?id=14

Give it a sassy name, and add a list of players and rules to the original post.

Please be sure to take a screenshot showing exactly where you want us all to embark from.  Include any details you think needed/useful to help us identify the exact spot, and assume that at least one person who really wants to play is not very good at understanding directions, so make them clear

I'm unable to see the preogress of my download on the site.

It says 'upload in Progress' but it's giving me 0% and ???/??? Kilobytes.

Is there perhaps someone I could email the world to and they could upload it?

If you'd be willing to bring the embark size down to 4x4 (my computer runs primarily on hope and force of will), I'd love to join in this.

You know, I love anyone who plays this game, therefor I love you, therefor I can sacrifice 1x1 of map so a fellow dorf can play.

4x4 it is!

We could even allow 1 4x4 section and 1 5x5.

Now delve into that world and find us an interesting embark everyone!

What's the simplest way to get a screenshot from my desktop to here?

No danger rooms!

Yikes.

My failure will be swift.

This rule kinda saddens me.  Not because I too rely on danger rooms - I've never used one and only tentatively considered the idea of ever trying one.  And not because I consider them exploits either  ;)

But because I am very bad at reading your mind.  For all I know, you might think that 2/3 of how I play is exploity  ???

You also mentioned you were a fairly new player - may I carefully suggest that you use this interesting mutual lets play to examine playstyles and techniques that you may think of as exploitive.  If a technique like 'danger rooms' have both upsides and downsides, or are very hard to use, they may not be as much of an exploit as you think... and too, it's a chance to really see what works and fails in specific techniques and why you might want, or not want, to use any specific techniques in your own play.

Forts that use danger rooms, I've heard, still fail.  I don't know of a single trick that means 'DF is now boring, I win', short of maybe a few mods that rarely get much attention, because they bore even their creators.

Failing that - please make the rules clear and strong from the start.  Instead of saying 'nothing exploity', please specify clearly what is not allowed.  This will avoid a huge amount of bad feeling from me when as I'm merrily playing and updating and having a grand old time, but then am hit by any form of 'Imp you broke our rules/Imp you're cheating'.  Be clear so I can stay 'clean', and please don't make me read your mind.

I'm assuming you're using a PC.  Have the window you want to screenshot open.  use the two keys alt and prt sc (print screen) to capture just that window.  Paste into paint.  If desired, crop/modify image.  Save and note name and location.

Google tiny pic.  That site (one of a HUGE number) has given me the easiest time uploading and the least annoyances, I find them fast and pleasant.  Follow the directions on screen, being sure you remember how to locate your saved pics on your comp.

The next screen will have several choices for copy and paste.  One is for forums.  Copy and paste it into your post here, using spoiler tag around it to spare the loading of people who have slow comps and/or who are reading this but dont want to see a lot of pics.

Consider using preview to see your post before you finalize it, and make sure you like what you see.  You can click on spoiler tags in your preview to make sure everything's just the way you want it.

You know thanks a lot for your insight throughout the thread, and I'd like to thank the rest of you as well.

I tend to overlook many fine details as I said and you've all helped a lot in getting this organized!

Sure thing Varnifane. If you could download the world and help search for embark sites that'd be great.

Possible site here, let me know what you all think.

Btw just take a line off the right and a line off the top and you have our 4x4.

I like it. The only time I've spent in an evil biome was when I accidentally embarked in a terrifying glacier. My dwarves all killed themselves because each tile outside accumulated ≈500 chunks of human frozen blood and stepping outside drove a dwarf mad. Immigrants arrived from the outside, preventing hopes of escorting them.

Purple mountains are evil mountains if I remember right, and that forest you show is haunted, which is also evil.  This would mean at least two biomes, both evil (each can have their own weather, with its own syndromes.  Each has a chance of being evil but having living plants and living animals, dead plants and no animals, or undead plants and undead animals).  This doesn't mean a 'no!' from me, but it may mean a 'doh, this is hard!' from us all.

You'd mentioned you wanted high savagery, right?  Haunted corresponds to neutral, it's terrorfying that matched evil high savagry, if you still care.

Hows the elevation there?  Do all races have access to us?

I've never embarked anywhere evil or haunted before.
Let's rock and roll.
