Dwarf Fortress Reference in World of Warcraft
« on: October 30, 2012, 07:30:19 pm »

I was leveling up a character of mine in World of Warcraft when I found this fellow in the Southern Barrens. Anyone who's been here a while should know that last name.

I think that this is even mentioned on the Wiki, it's pretty old.

Here's a tip, though... Use Russian characters in your WPA5 passphrase. If your spontaneous AI is anything like my spontaneous AI (not as aggressive as yours, good conversation, but actually worse than me at chess*), it can't handle any character outside of the CODEPAGE 437 list.

*I hope. It could just be lulling me into a false sense of security.

Add it then, the wiki always needs to grow. The page is here; http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/List_of_Dwarf_Fortress_references

It is pretty neat. There's a Dwarf Fortress reference in Borderlands 2, as well.

Salvador has an unlockable head that drops from the bonus boss. It's called Boatmurder and makes him look like a dwarf.

Terramorphus the invincible, one that is only accesible after completing the main storyline. He is a giant thresher that uses exceptionally cheap instant kill tactics.

Im pretty sure there is also a shirt called "PUrist" for Salvador that has a big ASCII Dwarf on it. I have no idea how you get it. It might even be fake, but whatever.

Just realised that the lines that enraged Goliaths say, "I'm gonna gouge your eyes out!" and "Have you ever been strangled with your own intestines?" can be one of those as well.

There's also a DF reference in Runescape where one of the towns ( I dont remember) has a dwarf standing around with the name of Urist McDwarf

That's technically an action, not a speech... Well it was only a matter of time before I had to write another scene of utter and horrifying perversion.

King of Candy Island.

Those are pretty much just generic threats and taunts. The only connection to DF is that it's actually possible.
