I love that idea, we could get free DNA by ingesting a predator's digestive tract contents.

There's a bunch of problems with the idea currently though.  For one - wherever we are, we are NOT in the creature's throat.  We're in a small, narrow opening that gets MUCH more narrow than it started, and not all of our body can fit inside - most of our body is sticking out.  That rules out most of the major orifaces, and most certainly we're not in the mouth/throat area, because that tends to open into the wider stomach (or narrower lungs, but still... doesn't sound likely).

We want to eat absolutely everything, of course, and if not stopped by something, we SHALL.  But our best shot at that is to ensure this thing is hurt SO bad it can't function well enough to fight/is dying... and to ensure that we don't overstay our breath capacity, whatever that happens to be.

Water is a huge threat to a creature that breathes through it's skin. Locusts caught out in heavy rain can *die*. We need to get away from this water as soon as possible.

With no way out, you decide to try burrowing into the living flesh of the creature, using your grinder...well you try to anyway. Your grinder, you see, is outside...the best you were able to do was slightly damage irritate the creature's carapace, which did little. With your ever-so-useful tool failing you, you decide to just eat your way in and hope for the best.

After several frantic moments of inefficient eating, you succeed in worming in a bit more through the narrow tunnel, however you find it a simpler thing to simply digest the flesh under you; its difficult to maneuver your underside in such cramped quarters. Due to your actions, the creature is bleeding heavily to such a degree that your literally drowning in it. Eep. On the upside, there is quite a bit of genetic material to make use of.

The creature is still trying to frantically dislodge you; you can feel it thumping against something hard. For the record, most of your body, excepting your 'tail' and thus your grinder, is within the creature.

i'm pretty sure none of those have gills.

we MIGHT be able to use the welif dna to make our... systems.... compatible with the welif's (it's even the same welif's DNA, so there shouldn't be any rejection whatsoever) and try to get our oxygen directly from the blood surrounding us.

yeah, it'd be vestigial for sure after this, but we kinda need a way to breathe, and it's not like we're low on evo here.
