way back we had like four or five votes for scurry around looking for food so i thought that was gonna be the plan but...

Food? You need food. Starving. Vibrations...high. multiple movements above the stone ceiling, although distant and you currently have no way of getting up there. Heat...you can feel the warmth of a fire nearby, just to your right and quite a bit above  of you actually. You also notice that there are more fires here, in an even pattern too. None of this is very important though. You can't eat heat.

Seeing that there is absolutely no food in the immediate area, except for that yucky sludge-water, you scurry along the path, which you notice goes on for quite some time. You don't see the ending when you see something. A clump of...something is growing on a wall near a particularly bright fire. You are able to reach a small part of the...thing. It feels warmer too. I You're not very sure if...whatever it is good for you, but you're too hungry to care. You begin devouring.

You soon devour all you can reach, but find it hard to digest. You don't seem to be made for this kind of food.

Also, on a hopefully-not-so-far-time project: multiplication. WITHOUT HIVE MIND. Instead, replicants will evolve individually according to their needs. BUT, they will have an intern program putting the "common" brood-good above their own.
Implication: perfectly normal ecosystem, with competition and natural selection and all, as long as their is only and only our descendants presents. If a stranger (say, a human) steps in, suddenly, unconditionnal cooperation between everyone until all aliens has been zergrushed to death.
