Waitlist me =D
This sounds pretty cool.

Name: Amirel
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Primary Skill: Summoning
Secondary Skill: Metamagic
Items:
-Book of Creatures: a book detailing the names and methods of summoning various creatures, focusing mainly on demons.
-Shield of Deflection: A shield within a shield, it protects from mundane harm by being a metal shield, and protects from magical attack by producing a barrier that deflects such attacks away.
Bio: Amirel was a terse loner before the destruction of nearly all the world, but has begun to cling to human contact and socialisation. She seeks to double demonic losses by fighting demons with more demons, her reasoning is that if demons so easily wiped out all human existence then no purely human power is sufficient to destroy them. They must be fought with their own means, clearly the most effective warcraft present in this barren world.

Alright then, may I have 'succesful called shots always sever if not a whole limb, then at least something' as my bonus for specializing in Shortswords? I love to make fights gorier than they have to be.
No, but I could give you the equivalent of the Bloody Mess perk. :3
Gimme gimme! I can already imagine the effect Bloody Mess would have on my character's backstory and personality, and it's hilarious :P

By the way, two characters can do an action together using the skills of both, right? I mean, if I and Mr. Zero got together with the intention of putting a laser tip on his lance, would the modifiers on our action account for both my knowledge of Enchanting and his skill in Light Magic?

Probably too late, but might as well.

Name: Gelb krzErek
Gender: Male
Race: Ant-centaur, minus the human part. (Desenti)
Primary Skill: Earth Elementalism
Secondary Skill: Hammer-user
Items:
-Steel Two-Handed Combat Hammer: A standard hammer. Seen a lot of use recently.
-XFIFD: the eXperimental Illogical Force Focusing Device directs the energy within the caster into certain points of the body, allowing increased comprehension  casting and more accuracy  spell direction. In effect, allowing weaker mages to perform tasks normally outside their reach. This technology being a prototype, has been set to only work with Earth Elementalism rather than with all schools as originally envisioned. Removes -1 from higher tiered Earth spells.

Bio: Gelb was hatched in the experimental colony of Uthkib among the higher echelons of Desenti society, which meant independence from the Mother's pheromones. Now, being born of Uthkib automatically marked the individual as different from other Desenti. Uthkib had been established as a test site for Desenti experiments into the effects of modifying organisms with Illogical Forces, the Desenti term for magic. Gelb's batch had been modified with an innate affinity for the earth, sensing it and feeling it to a degree. The "scientists" of the city quickly began running tests on the abilities of the newborns, listing down effects and notes for further improvements. They noted that nearly 90% of Gelb's batch had been only able to control their abilities to a limited degree, not really comprehending how Elementalism worked, even though they were gifted at birth. The scientists soon began the testing of focusers, devices which would allow casters to more easily comprehend their spells, and thus be more potent. Unfortunately, demons soon emerged from the tunnels and slaughtered most of the city. A few observant and lucky individuals had been able to escape, some with more than a few prototypes with them. Gelb had been at the centre of the city at the time of the attack and had instantly rushed for the armoury, grabbing a hammer to fight off the invaders. Of course, they never stood a chance. With their casters, the defenders were able to last for a month or so, walling off passageways and fortifying the walls, but eventually, it fell. Gelb had survived through pure chance: as the demons cracked through the walls, he saw that a comrade had fallen and had been using one of the prototypes. He ran for it and madly began digging a tunnel to the surface, luckily escaping. With no purpose left, Gelb wandered around the desolate earth for a time, escaping through the ground to evade demons. Eventually, he found his way to a small sanctuary, to rest for a while...

Turn 0: Preparations

Name : Kyle Laurien.
Gender : Male.
Race : Human.
Bio : Kyle is 5 ft 7 with long tangled black hair and pale grey eyes.
Kyle was a cruel and unpleasant person long before the demons arrived the only difference since then is his ability to use what most consider to be "dark" magic has improved. He still cares little for others but he will protect his companions most of the because strength in numbers and all that crap and he may need somebody to feed to a demon to save his own skin....
You are Kyle Laurien, wandering dark mage. Your particular set of skills is sometimes known as a Deathcaller.

Your primary possessions are a Bone Necklace (+1 level 1 undead command rolls) and a Book of Summoning (immediate roll to take control of a level 1 failed summon)

You have heard rumors of an Ancient Grimoire lost somewhere to the south. It is said that whoever possesses it will have unmatched power, which in a necromantic context implies control over the dead and perhaps demons as well. Assuming the legends are true and you can seize it, you'd likely never have to worry about demons again.

Name: Desi Heliopsis
Gender: Female
Race: High Elf

Bio: Kesi was, before the Demons arrived, considered a Rogue-Thiefomancer was the popular term. She used her magic to rob people, sneaking into houses, then flying away, laughing on her Windcloak. Most of the money went to drinking, paying off the authorities, and short term love affairs.

Then the world was destroyed, and her options became sort of stressed. While most people died, Kesi was not tied down to anything-or anyone. She glided out of the city as it burned, never looking back once.

...She hardly trusts her new companions, but life is an adventure, after all. Maybe there's still a way out of all this. She's nothing if not hopeful.
You are Desi Heliopsis, traveling scoundrel. Your particular set of skills is sometimes called a Windbringer, though they probably didn't have your particular uses in mind.

Your primary possessions are a Windcloak (glide silently using Air skill) and a Skulker Handbook (+1 conjuring level 1 implements of mischief).

You've heard rumors of a Flying Hideout somewhere to the northwest. Supposedly the abode of a flamboyant and legendarily successful thief, the hideout is rumored to be a paradise in the sky, where said thief would entertain vice-filled parties and otherwise continue to be up to no good. If true, and if you could reach it, there'd probably be few places safer, from demons or otherwise.

Theri Eyn
Gender: Female
Race: Kitsune//'Fox'Folk
Bio:
A wanderer of her people, Theri acted mostly as a hired healer during the times of peace - an independent idealist who wished to change the world, and perhaps find her place amongst the other races.

Post-Demon, her beliefs still remain unbroken, wishing to aid others more than herself. She is willing to give her own life up if it means an advantage is gained for the greater good.

Her companions are like potential to her, seeds of alliance and unity. She is somehow allergic to pollen.
You are Theri Eyn, wandering healer. Your particular set of skills is sometimes known as a Hearth Healer.

Your primary possessions are a Sylvan Staff (+1 level 1 healing/curing rolls) and an Opalescent Orb (may activate after rolling a [1] for a +1 bonus to next action)

You have heard rumors of a Sacred Glade to the west. According to legend, it is a place of secluded calm existing beyond the world. Assuming the rumors are true and you can reach it, it'd almost assuredly be beyond the demons' reach.

Another tale of summonings gone horribly wrong, Ho!

Name: Gage Allaric
Gender: Male
Race: Human

Bio: Gage was the loyal and confident apprentice of the priest of a small dingy town before the demons came. From a young age he was always in tune with the world of magic around him, but to his master's dismay he held no particular talent for the healing arts. Instead, Gage developed a peculiar sense of foresight, receiving hazy visions of the futures of those around him. Soon he was put to work telling the fortunes of the townsfolk.

As the demons flayed the men and women around him, Gage received a particularly clear vision that led him outside and into hiding. Now with nothing else left to lose, and his visions eerily silent, Gage now stands resolute to ensure the next vision he sees is one of victory over the demons.
You are Gage Allaric, wandering seer. Your particular set of skills is sometimes known as a Sightmage.

Your primary possessions are a Divining Knife (on success at both knife fighting and divining, indicates a potential weakness of the target) and a Faded Tarot Deck (+1 level 1 divinations).

You have heard rumors of a Scrying Pool to the southwest. According to rumor, it's a pool that allows those who gaze within to see whatever they like. If true, and assuming you could reach it, a way to escape or even defeat the demons could be yours.

Name: Paulus Marcius
Gender: Male
Race: Human

Bio: Paulus, a scout and messenger of the Empire, was out on a mission to make contact with nomadic desert-dwellers beyond the eastern borders of the Empire. Things seemed to go well at first: Paulus followed the Imperial roads of white stone and reached the desert several days before the demonic invasion began.

Paulus knew something was wrong when he saw that sandstorms were no longer unstoppable yellow walls of deadly doom that nothing could possibly survive - they have now turned into unstoppable red walls of even deadlier doom... and some noisy, hideous and incredibly foul-tempered creatures seemed to go in and out of these storms completely unharmed.

Paulus tried to get the word back to civilization post-haste, but apparently his post-haste wasn't fast enough: the first town he saw was already slaughtered, ruined and covered in red dust. Every other town he came across after that had met the same fate. Paulus walked the Empire's now-red roads, eating and drinking from the supplies that were intended for his crossing of the desert, until he found a recent trail left from an enormous group of people marching to the north; if anything, that was a sign of the Imperial army moving somewhere in great haste. The trail led straight to the northern borders of the Empire and then - into the wilderness beyond.

And so, Paulus went north, trying to get to the mountains far to the north: these and the lands around them belonged to the stout folk, called "dwarves", who seemed to revel in first building massive, near-impregnable fortresses and then abandoning these fortresses a couple years later. The empty fortresses were up for grabs, and it would be logical to think what's left of the army would try to capture a few of these for themselves.

Paulus would probably have reached his goal by now, but he stumbled across a refugee camp halfway to the dwarven lands and kinda-sorta got bogged down enchanting for food and water. He is now trying to get the refugees moving to the mountains, where they could at least find some heavily fortified positions they could hold, but he's had no luck convincing them so far.
You are Paulus Marcius, isolated scout. Your particular set of skills is sometimes known as a Blade Enchanter.

Your primary possessions are a Screaming Gladius (+2 attack, breaks on [1] vs [5,6], may use Enchanting Kit to attempt a save) and an Enchanter's Emergency Kit (may reroll a level 1 enchanting [1], may not reroll reroll).

You have heard rumors of an Imperial army moving to capture one or more dwarven strongholds to the north. If true, and assuming you could reach them, you'd surely be as safe as anything in this world.

Name: Elisa
Gender: Female
Race:
Spoiler: Cowgirl (click to show/hide)
Bio: Elisa, is not like every cowgirl. Most cowgirls became wives, worked at farms or shopkeeping. No, Elisa had a different approach to her life and her goals. She enjoyed watching minotaurs bashing unfortunate bandits and trouble-makers with their huge horns while bathing in the morning sun.( for christs sake don't think nasty stuff here). She wished that she could do the same, the problem is that females generally get smaller horns thus she wasn't able to do that. Until she overheard some soldiers talking about lancers. This strange type of soldier utilized a large metal stick-like weapon with a big point at the end, stabbing the end into the enemy.

She didn't hesitate for one moment, she left her family and went to become an lancer. During her training she met one particular mage which was skilled in the arts of light magic, she was curious of how one could control this elegant power. Light gives life, warmth and illuminates the darkness. So she picked up some small hints from this mage during her course, but she never got too involved in it. However her training came to an abrupt end when the demons attack, at that time she was away during some mission. But she finally could do that which she always dreamed off, namely crush enemies with her lance while bashing the with her shield.

Elisa, has blonde-ish hair and the bottom half is brown with stips of lighter brown, her ears are brown as well. Her horns are the same size as in the picture and her bust size is slightly smaller.
You are Elisa, wandering bruiser. Your particular set of skills is also sometimes known as a Light Lancer.

Your primary possessions are a Lance (+2 Attack, -1 Defense) and a Shield (+1 Defense).

You have heard rumors of an Ancient Monastery somewhere to the southeast. According to rumors, it's a place where minotaurs train night and day, honing the craft of war. If true, and if you could reach it, there'd be few better equipped to resisting a demonic invasion.

Due to difficulties balancing, all players will begin on the Half System, which is my standard mage game system but with roughly halved costs.

Spoiler: Half Explanation (click to show/hide)

You all find yourselves saying any final goodbyes and preparing for your journey elsewhere. Where exactly elsewhere is... well, you haven't quite decided yet. But, it'll be no good sticking around here for much longer. Best figure out where you want to go, handle any last-minute actions in the hideout, and then be off.

((Action posting i guess. I assume we aren't grouped togethet and armored minotaurs!? fuck yeah!))

The rumors Elise had heard made her excited to go there, not only will she get what she wants, these mighty Minotaur's will join our army! The problem is that she didn't exactly hear where that temple is located, but that shouldn't be an problem. You can ask people, especially men.

But the journey can be long and lonesome. Being lonely is not one of the things Elise likes, looking around there aren't that lot of potential partners. But Elise chooses  two possible partners.

Elise got interested in the scout, which seemed to have traveled alone for a long time. Maybe he could use some company?

Elise also got interested in Theri, which was the only humanoid monster in the group. Maybe she'd feel more comfortable among her own kind of eh... people?

Summed up
Flatter the scout with my bust, hoping he will join me on my adventure, and try to befriend Theri. Then Make haste to the South-east stopping in the first village i see, there i ask about these rumors in the tavern/inn.

Desi didn't trust anyone...but she had to trust someone. The recent destruction of the world had caused her to reappraise her life, in most terms. It was a sobering thought, that she had no to go to when the city fell-though she would likely have died then-but also, no one cared enough about her to go and find her.

She had waited. For someone, anyone. Yes, for a moment. Hoping...but no one came...a life lived like hers, she had never found anyone. Pity. It was all a moot point, anyway. Most of them in the cave now where only a few days from ending up resting uncomfortably in a Demons belly. Probably her too.

So why not take one final risk, going for the big score? If the Crows Perch really did exist...maybe...he would exist too. Maybe he would be the one for her.

...

Ha. Funny!

Desi hung upside down from the ceiling like a bat with her wings spread, chanting her low magic.

She nodded toward two of her companions-Gage and Theri

"Well. Looks like everybody is moving on, right....

Me? I intend to find The Crows Perch, personally. They said he's the greatest thief that ever lived...literally stole a castle and took it into the sky. Also, parties-Dancing girls, peace and love, wine everflowing-the good stuff! I'm going to go there...and if he's still alive and it exists, I suppose we'll see what happens then. Crazy idea I know, but what plan isn't these days?

Now-from what I understand, all three of us are moving in a Westerly direction, more or less...The Kitsu is looking for some sort of magic forest, and Mr. Allaric over there is looking for some magic puddle. No offense, they'd be great to find, but I'd not hold out for them.

I say-we all travel straight West, see what we can find, no pressure-when we want to break, we break. Working together is better than dying alone, even I know that. So, you lot wanna form a little alliance?"
She said quizzically, eyes sparkling charmingly.

Desi had used the same look on Guards, when asking them to stand just a little closer to the bars so she could pickpocket their keys.

Action: Conjure up some strong adhesive in glass jars-sticky bombs!

Gage stretched his arms out to welcome the new day, as much as you can welcome a sunrise above a festering hellscape anyway. Slowly turning his eyes around, he saw what was his companions in hiding speaking among themselves, apparently each having a story of potential power and safe haven to tell.

Gage had his own story, one of a possible Scrying Pool of old hidden away in the southwest. Through his studies in divinations, or rather in a book he had convinced a peddler to take leave of, he had read of how these pools were the result of a massive focus of multiple diviner's powers, and how the Pool could shatter the walls between the mortal realm and the plane of truths.

None of this mattered if it meant he was to survive alone. Some of the group wore faces that suggested devotion to their own quest, no matter what. Division is bad enough, but if everyone were to separate completely that would only ensure the demon's victory.

"Now-from what I understand, all three of us are moving in a Westerly direction, more or less...The Kitsu is looking for some sort of magic forest, and Mr.

Gage felt almost naked without his visions backing him up, without them he could not hope to shear flattery or deceit from this woman's words.

"The West seems to hold many secrets of great interest. Personally I put my belief in the Scrying Pool of old, the fable surrounding it leaves many traces of the Seeing Order's work, traces that only a trained Seer can pick up." Gage said in his audacious 'Seer's' voice with a hint of pride, "But then again there is also no doubt your... line of work brings you similar faith to this 'Crows Perch'. The tethers of fate may prove strong yet, perhaps an alliance is indeed in order."

Turning towards Theri, Gage adopted a more natural tone, "You have the hands of a healer, no matter where you go your skill will no doubt be valued, especially in a time like this. This Glade you have spoken of may be of similar interest to all of us. Before us there are many paths yet fate will only decree one answer." Gage pulled out his tarot deck and fanned the cards out in his hand, the border of each card barely visible "If the gods still speak true in this blasted realm, I shall read their words in the cards. Three cards, if you please." Gage held out the fanned cards between Theri and Desi, while intoning an incantation that would Reveal the best path through Divination.

((Huh... No safe places to the east from us. That's probably a coincidence, but there may be Something Bad lurking in the east; therefore, it may be generally safer to move at least a bit west-ish.
Also, yay for halved experience costs!))

Paulus scratched his chin... there was something seductive about the idea of making contact with a small army of war-crazy minotaurs. Still, whatever temple they were inhabiting was probably not secure enough to hold out agaist a full-out siege - a dwarven stronghold was still his best bet.

After a bit of reveling in the lancer's attempts to butter him up, Paulus, with heavy heart, decided to and decline the offer.
"Well, I guess that temple of yours is as good a place as any - minotaurs are pretty good at fighting, if I've heard right. And if it's less secure than the rumors say, you'd do good to try and get your folk moving to the dwarven lands: there are plenty of empty fortresses out there just waiting to be cleaned up and taken over."
"But I still think I'll be going north, not south - the last of my people must be in the dwarven lands by now. You'll probably find it easier to convince Gage and that dark mage, Kyle, to go southwest with you - all of you will need to travel in that general direction, anyway. I'll try and get the others,"
he nodded to Desi and Theri, "moving to the northwest with me. They sure look like they need someone with a good sword arm on their side."

Paulus then approached Desi, Gage and Theri standing together:
"No, no, I don't think that'll be safe at all. If the things I've met out there were any indication, demons tend to get nasty more often than not, and you don't even have a single decent weapon between the three of you. How about I tag along with you, Desi, and you, Theri, and we all travel northwest together until it's time to split up? You, Gage, should join up with the cowgirl instead - that way, you'll get to your goal even faster than if you went straight to the west."

Action: Try to get some extra provisions - and, if possible, a backup shortsword - from the refugees that had decided to stay here.

Desi nodded from her position on the ceiling. She had spent so many years training how to climb, there was almost no disorientation from remaining upside down like she was.

Hmm. Paulus was pretty cute. Very robust frame. Lots of endurance. And with an outmoded sense of personal honor in regards to defense of women. Great!

Desi clicked her tongue. Her personality...shifted. Best to use the Jester here, she thought.

She had, in fact, 'collected' almost twelve different identities. She could switch them as easily as a hat. This one was the Jester-silly rhyming couplets and a complete disregard for the serious, a love of the randomness and banality of life. Since the disaster, she had been keen to sink deeper into it.

"The more the merrier, right? Northwest is the straightest path to the Crows Perch, even if the terrains a bit crooked-so that's certainly the path I'd want to take, Gods have mercy, my soul to take...and your blade would be appreciated, Saer, your courage a high tower-my heart held true against the Demons power. I am, after all, merely an oh-so-humble thief, the arts of evasion and breaking my specialty, hands suited to the skill of scoundrel and the lovers caress, not the warriors code and the spreading of death.

...Then again, I must stress you all, I'm not exactly sure what the Perch will have in regards to all the ahem, 'War Effort'. They say the Crow stole thousands of magical artifacts and weapons we could peruse-things we might be able to use-in addition to the place itself, which is in theory a true safe haven, especially for one like me, with these wings of a raven.

I'm mostly interested in a nice place to spend the rest of my days getting drunk and...uh, sleeping. Lots of sleeping.

At least until Demons learn to fly. Then even I shall fear the sky."

...

Then she swooped down, and picked a card from the helpful Seer, Gage.

"Is this merely an amusement or a prophets decree? I've never let a man determine my destiny..." She said, smiling.

((
* Tiruin loves IronyOwl for his storytelling, friendliness, verbosity and branching plotlines. This includes most of his players.
))

"After darkest night, shines brightest dawn."

The Sacred Glade. A forested area which thrived with natural wonder and throbbed with the pulse of life. A Sanctum from the evils of this world, and a haven for those seeking retreat.

Perhaps this was the best way, perhaps not. Did the Demons know about it? Did it have any protectors?

...Will we be accepted?

Theri affixed her orb on her staff as she listened to the others and let them talk first. The time they had spent together with the introductions was a beneficial respite for the young Kitsune. Her people were far and separated in this time, and she doubted if she would see the likes of them soon - the people who were with her now, however, took priority. If she would live up to the memory of her kind, then they would have to live to herald the dawn for the world.

Most of her companions were human - a most intriguing race. She remembered the times her people lived in mutual coexistence with them, brokering peace and living like one entity. The High Elves, great was their race and civilization, known for their prudence at times of dispute and danger - something Desi was showing.

And the cowgirl. All she could remember was the benevolence of their species, of an amiable and amicable preference.

Somehow, she had a good feeling that this day would turn out well.
