Three: They're all subjective.

The list of characters is WAY to short, and focused only on recent stories rather than the actual classics. What about Urist form One Dwarf Against the World? does nobody remember her?

Yeah.

Ludicrous!  On another note, I spent 2 hours browsing the tv tropes last night.  My essay now has only an introduciton and a base outline instead of being four pages of single-spaced glory...

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Captain Ironblood besides the hydra thing, hence his exclusion.

Although with Derm there, Cog probably deserves a slot...

I think just "Add anyone we can think of" will do just fine. A certain demoted hero could probably be an in-universe Complete Monster, for one.
