Well, Thats Not a Normal Royal Family for Dwarves.
« on: October 09, 2012, 05:24:52 pm »

So, I've been playing on a world for some time, and just lost a fort ( Don't ask ) and decided to hit up legends, and found my civilization: Syrup of Sinews. However, it would seem that someone named: "The Dark Freak Nish Trustedlance became queen of the Syrup of Sinews." Later, if I found that her mate becomes king later, then even later, a Dwarven Necromancer becomes king, and the Dark Freak and her mate are then listed as enemies of the civilization. Uuum... What? Is this normal?

Well, the necromancer must have revealed that the night beasts were, in fact, night beasts. Or maybe it was someone else who did? Either way, succession is a bit strange during worldgen.

Actually, all Legends names are the most current, so what most likely happened is that she was abducted and turned into some monstrosity.  You'll get a lot of "the attack was led by the male freak of horror mate Long Dwarven Name Here", since at the time they were still a dwarf, but their names get retroactively changed for every event after they've been transformed.

And that's really annoying, IMO.  I'd like to be able to see deeds done with appropriate names pre- and post-transformation, with info that relates the two somehow.  Well, Legends Mode will get revamped... eventually.

Hey, I once found a book in legends called the book of glittery.

Here's the post I made about it in a funny name thread.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

DF is never normal.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Someone was getting existential.

Obviously, this Dwarf is making blatant attempts to destroy the fourth wall which we hold near and dear to our hearts.

He must be erradicated with delicate force.

It is a memoir about a memoir about a book, based on the Secrets of Life and Death. Wow.
