Unforseen consequences.
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:00:20 pm »

Okay, so my creations, the "adamantine colossus" are completely invincible...they surpassed my expectations when they proved invulnerable, EVEN TO EACH OTHER, NOTHING CAN KILL THEM, I think the only way would be to get an adamantine great axe, somehow, and begin hacking off limbs...did I mention they also regenerate?
anyway, this poses an issue when i get one as a subordinate of a random camp leader i get assigned to kill, so this brings up a question of "any ideas on how to kill them?"

I would ignore that particular quest and go kill something that isnt unkillable.

This. Definately this. You made them invulnerable, after all.

From the title of the thread, I expected you to have caused a Resonance Cascade.

Anyways, if you want to kill something made out of adamantine, just forget it. It might as well be invincible for how hard it would be to kill it.

You could try to do the quest by sneaking and killing the leader with arrows, but if the colossus is the quest target your only option would be to use dfhack and trap it in obsidian.

It being immune to damage from anything that wasn't it was expected.
Them being immune to EACH OTHER was not.
I gave them fireimmune super, that won't work (when i got tired of dragons melting me)
I think the only way to kill it is to breathe fire on a frozen river, throw them in, and wait for it to refreeze.

I made them adamantine, regenerating, martial stance, no rusting skills, raising the dead, and fire breathing. also flying.

how, pray tell, does one trigger a renassaince cascade in dwarf fortress? unleash the hidden fun stuff several miles from their fortress, until it overpopulates the rest of the world?

Also annoying when recruiting them because they keep reviving my dead opponents...should probably disable that till im doing a round without being on anyone's side.

Well, I guess you don't remember Half Life too well.

The joke is that after that happens, the chapter is called Unforeseen Consequences.

Quit adventuring, start a fort, wait for him to immigrate and burrow him on an atom smasher. Then fire it. Presto chango, problem solved.

Adamantine is really light. Train your wrestling skills to legendary, then throw it at something so hard that it explodes.

renassaince cascade

I could see Leonardo da Vinci as Gordon Freeman.
