I suck at drawing dwarves falling from bridges
« on: September 19, 2012, 11:32:09 am »

Inkpracticed, 34
I pulled a lever to drop the useless immigrant to 10 Z levels below (I know there are better ways to kill dwarves, but this one is fun) and the bastard hit a hauler and a soldier because I didn't forbid a hatch. The hauler died from infection (lack of soap, I think), soldier is fine.
I'm working on another drawing now, but send me ideas please :D

(the black mark at the center is a random mosquito I smashed by accident)

If that's a mosquito then that's some really huge paper :o

Perhaps a drawing of 10 large serrated disks proceeding to massacre one poor crundle would be an idea, or the largest dang cage trap catching the smallest of crundle.  (Pardon me for the odd fixation on crundle.)

I'd finish it with a proper pencil but I can't find it D:

Why I always keep emergency backup pencils.

Oh, and I love the detail in the engraver's xKitten Leather Trousersx.

Cool stuff.
Try using Alchemy: http://al.chemy.org/
You can make some surprisingly stylized drawings once you get used to it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Nice! A tiny little advice. Try drawing wind-like lines behind the direction the dwarf is heading next time. It may look a little comic-like but it implies that he is airbone and shows the direction where he is falling.

The wind I'm talking about looks like this and this (yeah I found it by googling 'flying comic')

I dunno, I kinda like the dry realism of the pictures.  First one especially reminds me of satirical woodblock prints/paintings, like Bruegel, like there should be an aphorism caption to it or something.  Also, without lines his trajectory is vague, and it's more interesting to imagine how he falls.  Any more???   :)
