They instituted that awhile ago, I think it was to keep people from making duplicate accounts to get more coal from the steam winter sale event or the like.

Yep, found it.
Quote from: Humble Bundle blog, Dec. 20th 2011
Hey guys, we’ve noticed that a number of un-humble users are buying lots of Humble Indie Bundle 4’s for one penny, and then using their Steam codes to “legitimize” automated Steam accounts in order to increase their odds of winning prizes in Valve’s current raffle promotion. This is unfair to legitimate entrants and is definitely not what we wanted to encourage with Humble Indie Bundle 4. It’s a lose-lose situation for the indie developers, charities, Valve, and Humble Bundle.

Therefore, starting immediately, new orders under a humble threshold of $1 will not contain Steam keys.

If you can’t afford a dollar but still need a Steam key and promise not to resell it or otherwise abuse it, please contact our support team with your humble appeal and we’ll purchase a new bundle for you on a case by case basis.

That's five dollars and seventy cents that I will never regret spending. The giddy, greedy part of me really wants to know if they'll add any more games to the bundle.

There is a near guarantee that at least 1 will be added.  This is how humble bundle is.

If you pay less than average you still get games added later. So even if you dont like the extras it is a good investment topay a couple of bucks early on

The only games that interest me are Vessel and Torchlight. Which I already have. Apparently.

I sent them a dollar for SPAZ and Torchlight (in case I turned out not to like them at all), which I was in practice never going to buy of my own accord but sounded like they might possibly be good, maybe. None of the others looked interesting. (If SPAZ wasn't Space Pirates and Zombies I might have bought it earlier. But probably not because I got Space Rangers 2 and didn't like it at all, and it sounded like the same game.)

I started playing SPAZ, I'm liking it. Better than I might have expected.

I got this for SPAZ, since I've been interested in it for a while but avoided it because of DRM.  The other games aren't very interesting to me though.

Still, SPAZ for $8 isn't bad. Also soundtracks are always fun.

SPAZ is a really nice game that puts people off mostly because of its name... which really is too bad. It deserves more credit than it got!

Hm. SPAZ and Torchlight I already own, and those would have been the main things for me. Might still get it.
