Lost Status as Legendary Hero

I didn't know retiring did that, or is it a glitch? I have a hero with a massive kill list, decided to retire for a little while, then picked him back up to realize no one cares for him anymore. The Lady who gave me my high level missions even yells at me to 'Begone!'

That rarely happens on Adventure Mode, if ever; once you complete a quest for an entity, it seems that you get status with every other entity that is not hostile to it. I'll have to check if the subject of the quest being an enemy of every other entity does matter with this.

In any case, your reputation reset might be a bug. Let's just try to replicate that.

It happened to me once when I retired as well. It could have to do with the length of time you were retired or something.

Toady actually seems to have made it so that retiring always resets your completed quests/the difficulty of quests you can get to the lowest values after retirement. While legends mode still says you're a legendary hero (I'm pretty sure), that doesn't actually have any effect on how others treat you. You will need to work your way up from dingoes and bandits again to gather an army of companions and lead them against a dragon.

well still, just because you havent done anything for a year doesn't mean people just forget about the guy who killed 3 dragons 5 bronze colossuses and 39 goblins witchout a scratch and lost a leg and the use of one arm to a horse

Well, that explains them not noticing when they're on !!FIRE!! or not running away until a megabeast is within one square of 'em.
Most especially if said megabeast is THE SHINTO GODDESS OF DEATH.

Well if i was onfire and saw a giant skinless snake made of steam what shot poison that causes body parts to rot off i would forget about the fire
