I've never been able to beleive in a guiding force myself, but I have always wondered if it would make not knowing what the future holds to be a little bit easier.

Truely, how grand it must be to look at the chaotic mess that is the human condition and see a guiding hand. I envy you, utterly.

Leaving religion behind brought me more happiness than keeping it, honestly.  Religion was a gold mine for self-blame and shame.  Realizing I was the guiding force of my own life brought a lot of happiness into my life.

edit: to each his own though, this life is tough, I won't ridicule anyone for finding happiness where they find it.

While I'd be happy to talk off my nut about my belief, and while you can PM me about it if you want to follow it up, this thread is not about theological discussion :P So, back to your regularly scheduled depression!

It was a large contributor in my depression, too. Turns out thinking you're going to hell is bad for your mental health.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
