I hadn't played in forever until recently; Alpha Sapphire was a fitting way to re-enter the Pokémon games, seeing as I started off with playing Sapphire. Sapphire or Emerald, it was one of those. It gave purpose (for me, at least) to berries again, and made it more fun to catch legendaries and fill up the Dex. Addicting, would be more like it. Seriously, I have 150+ hours on my game file. It's a shame you aren't playing anymore.
Needs to be reminded that you can never make too many character sheets.
