Trade Value of prepared meals.
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:22:24 am »

I want to lower the trade values of prepared meals, but I'm new to modding, how could this be done?

The only way to do it is to make the plants and other plant components less valuable. Go through the plant raws and reduce every [MATERIAL_VALUE:X] token by a factor of 2 or so and that should significantly lower the value of most meals. (Ignore the [VALUE:X] token, it currently has no effect on the game).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Yep, each food piece counts as decoration, which afaik value multiplier can't be changed. Though I think most of foodstuffs are already relatively low value, it's the sheer volume that makes it so valuable.

Sadly yeah, that's the only way to do it right now.

Also one of the other reasons that meals are so valuable is the number of quality modifiers that are thrown on each meal. To find the total value of a meal you do 10*(quality of meal)+(ingredient 1 value)*("mincing" quality modifier for ingredient 1)+(ingredient 2 value)*("mincing" quality modifier for ingredient 2)+... as a result you end up with a large number of ingredients, each of which then has their value triple or quadrupled.
